What is your gut telling you about this hire?

A- will take OU to another level and to multiple final fours and/or elite 8’s
B- will be solid but nothing special first or second round losses mostly with sweet 16s sprinkled in
C- will be around .500 every year sometimes make the tourney sometimes not
D- will be below .500 and near the bottom of the conference, never make the tourney
F- will be sorry he was hired and the next guy has to clean up the mess left behind

I don’t mean to be nitpicky. But lon made a final four so wouldn’t the next level be national championship.?

I thought about that and probably should have put multiple final fours

Updated

Only one coach has taken ou to multiple final fours, drake, so if that is the criteria for an a then odds are we won’t have an a hire. Billy went to 1, kelvin went to 1, Lon went to one.

There is a huge gap between your A. and B. choices. What if he makes this team a consistent participant in the Sweet Sixteen or Elite Eight?

And as I'm sure you know, getting to the Final Four in Drake's day meant winning one game.

This. Our most successful and well liked coach in history didn’t even achieve an A in this poll. But I guarantee you people will be blown away if he achieves anything close to Billy, or what Kelvin did ‘99 on.

I dont disagree and i added a little more to A and B one more time but in all honesty I wrote these up based on what some posters were saying about Lon and the program.

A lot of posters felt like the program was/is stale and want that next step.

If i told you the head coach over the next 10 years would go to multiple sweet 16s, an elite 8 and a final four and only miss the ncaa once, most would say the guy did a really good job. Thats basically what B is the way i wrote it.

Most of us take that but for the next step it would minimally be going to either multiple final fours or as CoachTalk said, going to/winning the title.

Without including the conference stuff, only advancing further into the tournament consistently would elevate the program from what it currently is.

To me, thats probably too high on the expectation chart and B would still be a really good hire IMO but not ‘next level’ for the program.

Elieson,

Is it ok with you if I post some content here and vote in the poll? I see some people sharing opinions they've expressed in other threads, but I want to clear it with you first.

Thanks. Let me know if it's ok.

I would prefer if you kept to yourself. Thanks for running it by me.
