Following a 15-16 record in his first season, what do you expect from Lon's quad next year.In fact let me make this a two part question-1)What do you expect next year? and 2) What is the minimum improvement OU needs to have in Lon's second year?

Personally I think OU will be around 19 wins next season and an NIT -bubble team NCCA team. I still think if Newell had stayed he would have provide that extra scorer OU needed to win afew more games ,basically I think the difference between an 18-12 NIT squad and the 15-15 regular season mark when did finish with.

Having said I think M'Baye provides additional depth at both the wing and post, IF he (like Osby before him) is as good as advertised that in and of itself would provide the bump to improve this team. Since we also have 2 other Pledger-Fitz talent level players coming in I would like to think that we can get atleast some contribution here as well.Add to this Lon could be bringing in more talentin April. Depending on what happens in the spring signing period I may upgrade my expectations for next season.FWIW I feel that 19 wins and a NIT-bubble team NCAA season is also what most fans expect as a baseline for next season ,below that I think the lynchmob forms.

I'd like to see how we fill the final two scholarships, what our schedule is, and to a lesser degree what the other Big 12 teams do to finish out their classes before I start making predictions.

That said, my expectations will probably be about what they were at the start of this season.....a 20 win season, and either sneaking into the Dance, or a definitive NIT team.

I think those of us that predicted the same last year were pretty close. I think Newell leaving cost us 2-3 wins, and Cam/Neal being bad for much of the season (shooting), probably cost us a game or two as well.

17 maybe 18 wins, unless we sign some better guards this spring, then maybe 20... NIT with better guards.. CBI with the guards we currently have...

The only way a lynchmob forms is if we have less than 10 wins and I don't see that happening unless 2-3 starters have a season-ending injury midway thru the season or before.

Most sane people realize the cesspool Lon inherited. Very little talent, very poor talent being recruited, etc., so most people will understand if we have another season next year like we had this year. Will people be happy? No.

Even if we aren't any better next year, LK isn't going anywhere. They are paying him too much money for somebody to send him packing.

Exactly. I've made that comment a few times. Better support LK, b/c short of having 10 win seasons, which won't happen under him, he isn't going anywhere.

We should be around twenty wins. Depends on injuries and who signs in the spring. I hope we get the kid out of New York. M'Baye gives us several more wins this year but I don't know if the other teams in the league are getting better or worse. I do like the fact we play TCU who is even worse than A&M this year.

I don't think the kid out of New York makes a bit of difference next year. He isn't highly ranked, and isn't particularly skilled. He's an athlete. And athlete that in a year or two might be a solid player, but he wouldn't get much run next year.

Apparently I am out of the recruiting lopp as I have not heard of any NY kid? Details?

By the way when I say lynchmob,I am not referring to the administration but fans.I have read and heard many negative comments during and following this season and that is why I think 18-20 wins with NIT and NCAA bubble possibilities to stave off the mob.

It is between us and UCONN. I don't know how good he is but we haven't had many players recently that UCONN would take.

Probably not the best way to gauge things.

I think he is another year or two away. We have Osby, and Pledger. After that the other guys need to improve and big time. I don't think we have 5 guys on the team that I would consider big 12 type players.

I think if at least one guard can come in and provide a consistent spark and minutes then they go NCAA. I think M'Baye will be a good additional post. That allows them more depth and fewer second half let downs. If no guards come in that can help then they are few games better and go to NIT.

NCAA? We were one of the 3 worst teams in the league this year. We are just going to suddenly become a top 64 team in 1 year?

Angry mobs are born from passion, based on the average OU fans attitude towards the basketball program lately, LK is very safe.

Why not? You don't think we can win 4 more league games next year? Because had we done that, we're a bubble team. Had we not laid an egg in Lubbock. Had we not choked away the game in College Station. Had we held on against Mizzou or Baylor in Norman. This team really wasn't THAT far away.

Exactly. We were not that far away from playing in a post-season college tourney. A spring and summer of improvement, and new additions? I'm optimistic for what 2012-13 holds.

It's not like the mob was really calling for Capel to be fired. It was pretty much split between those those for and against him.

It's still a dumb comment, doesn't matter how you meant it.

If a lynch mob wasn't formed while Capel was dropping big steamers at midcourt 3 of his 5 seasons, then we won't have one after next season. Thanks to Capel, fan interest has plunged to a historical low. The only lynch mob would be if Capel came within 1000 miles of the program.
