What in the heck is this? Norman North Wrestling

Wow...that's sick. Where in the hell do these kids see this...and think it's ok?

The story is so light with details. It sounds like a sick hazing thing to me because it says rape by instrument.

Why would high school boys or young men even be on the same bus with a 12 year old? That is why they have grade school, junior high school/middle school and high school. You separate children so that the older kids do not victimize the younger kids. What the _____ was the driver doing? Where the _____ was the coach? If that was my 12 year old son, I would be beyond pissed. There would be major lawsuits and I might get violent.

Ada and OUhoops, sorry if this was the wrong forum and therefore inappropriate. I just thought someone might know something about this because we all have ties to Norman and it is a horrible story.

There's actually a TV show called, American Crime that's running this season about this very issue. It's actually pretty intense and well written. But yeah - it must damage a young person's ability to trust people for life when **** like this happens.

Everyone involved should be thrown in prison and have the biggest dudes there treat them like they treated these two boys.

Hazing or not...I don't understand why any guy would want to stick something up another guys backside....that is seriously jacked up. You hear about hazing in frats...sports...etc. I just don't get that...

Anyone that does that is a freak...don't care if you're the biggest jock or not.

I remember some hazing things when I was in HS but never anything like this. This is weird and idiotic at the same time.

I don't either. I am simply speculating because it makes no sense to me.

I was in a fraternity at OU and there was no hazing like this. The hazing we experienced was cleaning, sleep depravation, yelling and some physical exercises. Nothing like this.

There were some weirdos in a town over from my hometown that did nearly the exact same thing at a basketball camp.. some dudes are weird. The guys didn't get in trouble at all

I thought hazing at first as well. It atleast started as hazing I bet. But then it continued after they got off the bus and for a long period of time it sounds like. It says until the boy's father arrived at the school. I wonder what happened at that moment

That is terrible. The story I read had very few details. Very strange behavior. How does a kid go along with this (I mean the group that was assaulting the young kid).

DS, in the comments of that article there is another article that goes into more details about the incident. Very disturbing to say the least, and I agree that there would likely be retaliation outside of legalities on my part as a parent. I can't imagine what the 2 kids are going through mentally after something like this. Just horrible.

Nothing I have read, including in this thread, gives any details about the bus driver. Assuming the bus (was it a city or a school bus?) was driven by an adult, anyone know what the hell was he doing during the assault? Most bus drivers carry a cell phone now. Wonder why he didn't use it to call 911?

One thing is certain, the boys who perpetrated this crime on these young kids were a bunch of sickies who need to be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Makes me angry as well as sick to my stomach just to think about it!

I am not a big guy or a tough guy but if you wanted to do that to a person on my bus, we would come to blows. I might get beaten up but I would not sit back and allow that to happen.

I feel the same way. I couldn't live with myself if I allowed something like that to happen. GRRRRRRRRRRR!!! Made me angry to read the NewsOk article!

Over time we have conditioned ourselves to not get involved. Don't speak up. I really think the world would be a better place if we conditioned ourselves to get involved, speak up and right wrongs when we see them as well as inquire when we see things that might be a wrong.

I am not remotely suggesting I am some saint that does this but i do think I would get involved with the facts of this situation.
