I voted Baylor, but it's a somewhat unfair question. Missouri has elite guard talent, up there with those Villanova teams from a few years ago. But since big men are hard to come by, and that's what Baylor has in spades, I went with them.

Speaking of, Kansas is going to be in BIG trouble next season. Shallow roster and lose their two best players, but another starter. Baylor or Iowa St. will probably win the league. I even like our chances to finish ahead of KU next year.

I voted Baylor and I dont think it's even close. Missouri has a bunch of good guards that are seniors. Kansas has some 2nd stringers this year that are getting their chance. They are solid.

But Baylor has freaks all over the place. Perry Jones could be the #1 draft pick. Anthony Jones has the longest arms I've ever seen outside of Manute Bol but he can shoot threes and handle the ball. Quincy Miller might be the best future NBA player of them all. Quincy Acy might be the 4th most talented big man they have and I think he had a 10-dunk game last year! Throw a lightning quick scoring PG that sent Walton to the bench this year and their Canadian shooting guard that most teams would kill for and they have the talent to win against anybody. They just dont have the coaching.

Its pretty ridiculous when guys like 6-11 J-mison Morgan and 6'9 Cory Jefferson can't even get on the floor. Heck, Anthony Jones the long-armed wing lost his starting spot this year as a Senior!

I just wondered what everyone thought. There seems to be a consensus that when Baylor plays KU or MU, it's a coaching mismatch in favor of KU or MU. I just wondered which team people thought had the best talent.

Baylor has the most talent, just not the best team. Drew has had some underachieving teams before. This year's group may top the list. They're a team with final four potential that may not make it past the second round.

6'9 Cory Jefferson can't even get on the floor.

He would probably start for anyone else in the league but KU.

In a way Baylor reminds me of the old Guy Lewis Houston team. Top shelf talent and bottom rung coach.

It's between Baylor, Iowa State, Texas, and OU to win the league next year, probably in the order I listed. Kansas State, Oklahoma State, and West Virginia will probably compete as well. Kansas, TCU, and Texas Tech are in big trouble. And yes, I really do think Kansas is in big trouble if Robinson leaves. Besides Robinson and Taylor, Kansas has nothing this year. Self is a good coach, but he has really struck out on recruiting the last few years, and coaching only takes you so far (as we've seen with Kruger this year).

I would swap Texas and OSU. If Texas loses Kabongo they will be in a difficult spot since they lose Brown as well. It looks like Nash is going to stay, they add Smart, and lose Page (which I think will actually be better for them in the long run).

OSU is a very interesting case. I picked them to be a Top 20 team this year, and I've obviously gotten burned there, so maybe I'm just being cautious, because they very quietly have exceeded expectations in Big XII play after their disastrous non-conference performance.

Baylor has the most talent, but definitely under coached.
Still cant figure out how they get those guys to go to Baylor.

Perhaps I voted without reading the question as well as I should have (voted Kansas because the Jayhawks are best, in my book, based on the talent they have). Baylor is actually a pretty crappy team when you consider the talent Drew has brought to Waco. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see the Sooners beat Baylor when they meet again. One thing's for certain: Drew will get outcoached from the opening tip.

No doubt about it. I don't understand how Drew continues to sign so many talented players, only to have the word "underachievers" used to describe his teams every season?

One year, maybe two, you could point to team chemistry or blame it on a bad mix of players to fit his coaching style. But when you see great athletes who don't seem to know what the word "team" means year after year, coaching has to enter the picture somewhere.

The question, then, is why can't recruits see that, too? I keep thinking it will catch up to Baylor at some point and affect recruiting. Yet, there is Baylor on the list of a slew of recruits in the top 100 every season.

Drew must be some kind of salesman, which comes as no surprise. I saw him in an interview a couple of weeks ago. I have to admit that with his personality and charm, it's easy to see why recuits and their parents would buy what he is selling. Will they keep buying if his teams continue to underachieve? Who the heck knows? I thought that question would be answered long ago.

this is said every year almost and it is never true. I used to say this too but I have learned my lesson

They're a shallow team (meaning it seems highly unlikely their stashing some studs on the bench), and lose their best players. They aren't bring in an exceptional recruiting class. They are in trouble.

You're right, bounce. Every year people (posters on this board) predict the beakers are finished, and all they do is destroy the other Big XII teams while laughing their way to a No. 1 seed in the dance. Of course the laughter always turns to tears when the squawks get owned by some double-digit seed in the second round.

I will have to see it to believe it

We say it all the time, but nobody ever really dives in to it:

How the hell does Drew get all those players?

It's ridiculous how a bad coach can get THAT many guys. They're consistently really, really talented.

Just like they're consistently terribly coached. :D

This was a good idea for a poll and discussion. Good timing too since it was posted right before Kansas went into Waco and beat BU by 30 the last 30 minutes of the game.

I'm not as big of a Self fan as many around these parts, especially OSU fans. But he has proved to be a heck of a coach, and Self vs Drew was an unbelievable mismatch last night.
