Who does Mcgusty remind you of?

Umm Jamal Crawford 100pct to me. Just wondering..

A skinny Harden, he has an off the beat rhythm to his dibble that allows him to get to the rim on most defenders (not going to out quick or athlete any one). Draws a lot of fouls and can shoot from deep or mid range. Not looking to pass a lot yet but has an eye for it. :lon

I was actually thinking he reminded me of a shorter better ball handling Kevin Durant. Just the way he moves and his scoring repertoire reminds me of Kevin.

No idea but I'll say this, he's better than Buddy was as a freshman. He's more under control and a lot better shooter. Understand, that's nowhere close to saying he'll be better than Buddy as a senior. We shouldn't expect that. The growth Buddy made was staggering. But he's better right now than Buddy was at this point in his career.

Bingo. I've been thinking this since day one. He's a small Kevin Durant... lanky and long, although not as long as Kevin, but has similar form with his shot fully utilizing his height. He can handle it and is able to back off his defender and hit the three over him relatively easy. Sound familiar? He also kind of looks like him.

I agree. Now you get Doolittle, McNeace, Freeman, and Jordan Shepard to develop and those 5 along with CJ and Rashard make a great nucleus for the next three years and then hopefully 2-3 recruits over next 2 signing classes can provide depth thru 9 guys. Wanted this year to be a little better record wise, but this roller coaster will continue to be crazy and very enjoyable from fall 2017 and on

Can't disagree. One thing I can't quite get a bead on is his athleticism.. I've noticed on a couple of breakaways he's had he's decided to lay it up instead of throw it down. For anyone who's seen him more(practice) does he have decent hops?

That's a great question. I would describe him as crafty, but I can't think of a specific player for comparison.

In thinking about a former OU player, McGusty reminds me a little of Anthony Bowie. Bowie was listed at 6' 6" 190, Kam is listed at 6' 5" 191. Their style is also similar. Smooth, controlled athleticism, highly skilled, and as billyball put it, "crafty."

He's got great hops ... I think he's just more of a finesse player than a power player.

I think Manu Ginobilli light. KD does not drive the ball like Kam, much more content with shooting shots from outside. Kam wants to get to the paint and, because of his height, has to be more creative around the rim with head fakes, spins and the like. Very under control.

I like that comparison, especially offensively. Of course, Anthony Bowie was more seasoned by the time he arrived in Norman (as a junior), but I can definitely see the comparison. Bowie was a defensive specialist in the NBA for 8 years, but see no reason McGusty can't turn out just as good.

these are all pretty interesting. I think he gets the absolute most out of his abilities if he spends the off-season ballhandling and shooting midrange jumpers.

mcgusty is a significantly better shooter .. but I'm not sure he is nearly as good of an athlete

Cue the Mike Treps voice......

"Anthony BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWIE!"

Correct me if I'm wrong, you fossils, but didn't Anthony Bowie have the first triple-double in Sooner hoops history?

Good question, one I'll leave to the board's historians like you, Waymanfan, NMSooner and a few others who seem to be able to remember things like that.

i don't have a clue....i consider myself mid-level fossil....it's my Dad who's had tix in LE5 since forever.....but the low post passes between Tis and Bowie were beautiful. dunk. throw down.

now everyone bangs around in the post.....what we didn't really see or realize in the Billy Tubbs era was like Romanticism in art. he opened the game up, and the human spirit go.
