I have read a lot about a current commit with the last name of Goff, but since I don't follow recruiting of any type (football, basketball, baseball, tiddlywinks, etc.) I have no clue about this player.

My question is why do so many people think this guy is the savior of our program?

Isn't he a juco? If so, how many juco's have we had at Oklahoma that stepped in and led the team to greatness? Harvey Grant and Mookie Blaylock were pretty good their first years, but they had other good talent around them.

I'm just trying to figure out why everyone is so hopeful about this guy? What are his current stats? Does he average 30 ppg and 10 rpg in juco? If not, what are his averages?

I have yet to see one person say that he is going to be the savior, Jud. Where are you getting this from? Thanks in advance.

Robert will have two years to play at OU. He has been coached for the past three years by Steve Eck (who coached Taj Gray). He runs the floor really well, is athletic and uses this on both ends of the floor (can block shots and really finish strong at the rim). Is known as more of a defensive player though Coach Eck has been raving about his improvements on the offensive end.

Lastly, Coach Capel always talks about how mature he is as a person and that he is a guy that the program has been after for three years now.

Savior? No. Much needed piece on a team with zero post defense and rebounding? Uh yes.

Savior is probably a strong word but I've seen more than a few posts thinking this guy is going to turn the program around.

Some have stated that Capel should get one more year based on the incoming talent which at this point is Goff and the transfer from MSU, and Peters (am I missing somebody). My question is, how do we know Goff will stick around? If he does stick around what makes people think he's going to deliver us from the doldrums of the conference?

I haven't seen anyone call him a savior or mention he is going to turn this team around by himself. He is a solid player, high energy, who will help with our inside game...namely on the defensive end. His coach is very reputable (albeit shady) in the JUCO ranks and Cowley is a very good JUCO. My guess is he comes in and plays behind Osby and Fitz for a three man post rotation, Washington and Thompson will get scraps.

Then immediately discredit their opinion, they don't know what they're talking about.

It's called the backup quarterback syndrome...

Hasn't Capel said that Goff and Osby will drastically improve the front line?
