I think it is a tough question to answer due to having at least 4 guys who could put up a high double digit average.

I think Bird saves his best for his last year and puts up monster numbers. Having Mbaye will take some of the focus off of him and will allow Grooms to get him more open looks.

So I will say Steven Pledger.

Scoring leaders in order

1. Pledger 17.5
2. Osby 15
3. M'Baye 12
4. Fitzgerald 11
5. Clark 10

Total from above 65.5

I think Grooms will average about 7. This is 72.5 so I may be a bit high but I really see those first five guys all being in double digits

It'll be Bird.

And I don't see Clark getting 10 a game. Even if he improves percentage-wise, I think he'll be less of a focal point in the offense this year, and will lose minutes to the frosh.

I hope it's M'Baye, Osby or Clark. If one of them leads us in scoring we have a chance to be a lot better. If Pledger leads us in scoring we are most likely a .500ish team again.

Of course you are right. But, those abstract concepts often don't float so well here.

If it's Clark then we will be really, really good.

Pledger, but I hope Osby and M'Baye are close. Pledger is the only guard we got that can create on his own.

I don't understand that logic. Bird can still lead us in scoring as long as he isn't the only weapon on offense, and we can still be better than a .500 team. I personally think he'll lead again in scoring, but his numbers won't quite be as high as M'Baye and Osby will help a ton.

Pledger wasn't the only weapon OU had last year. He was arguably the only consistent 3 point shooter OU had. OU has to have consistent 3 point shooting from a few players. Neal and Clark need to shoot the 3 point shot better and one of the freshman has to shoot a high percentage from the 3 point line. I would also like to see Osby knock down a few more (he needs more attempts because he had a solid percentage) and M'Baye to hit some 3 pointers.

Clark, Grooms and Blair were horrible from the 3 point line last season. Grooms shot 20%, Clark shot 27.8% and Blair shot 27.3%. OU simply has to have better 3 point shooting than that from 3 of it top 4 back court players.

I'm hoping Clark just had a sophomore slump. If he could just be the rebounding and defensive machine he was at the end of last year, and not worry about scoring, then this team will be pretty good. OU will have 4 guys that have proven they can score (M'Baye, Pledger, Osby & Fitz), so that should take some pressure off Clark. If he could be a 33-35% 3pt shooter the team will be much better.

I'm going with M'Baye.

Amath, Bird, Romero and Drew are all capable of having big games. But I believe the scoring will be more balanced on this team than any season we've seen in years. I won't be at all surprised if those four players average between 10 and 15 points per game, with the leading scorer honors changing hands several times throughout the course of the season. Clark is the wild card. He's certainly capable of averaging in double figures. The question is, will the real Cam Clark show up?

I think the rest of the team will battle for playing time. That said, it will not be easy to keep Hornbeak, Cousins and Hield on the bench. If one or more of the five I named earlier is not on his game, he could easily lose his spot in the rotation to a newby. I predicted sometime ago that the competition for minutes will be intense this season. I stand by that prediction.
