Kstate

Barry Brown - 3 Star
Stokes - 3 Star
Dean Wade - 4 Star(From a 1-2A school!!)
Diarra - was he not ranked??
Mawien - 3 Star
Sneed - 4 Star top 100 player

OU

James - 3 Star
Odomes - 3 Star
Freeman - 4 Star
Doolittle - 3 Star
Manek - 3 Star

So why are K-States guys developing so much better than our guys?? Just disappointing looking at the squads and seeing Kstate be so successful with guys that I'd say were pretty similar out of High School. Brown and Wade are top 5-10 players in the league, Mawien is so underrated. Stokes and Diarra I know are kind of more up and down. I added Sneed in, but he was the highest rated recruit out of the bunch.(had most talent coming in)

I can see Doolittle and Manek playing above their rating and maybe hitting their potential like some of Kstates guys. I know we had Trae and 1-2 other higher rated guys that didn't pan out.

I really don't know if I'm way off for comparing these two programs or not. Thoughts??

Buddy years were good and a lot better than KSU. You cant pick and choose.

OU is a better program than KSU

I looked back and thought about including that as well. We had a few good years to Kstates bad. Guys like Cousins, Buddy and Spangler all improved as well. Without doing all of the research it just seems Kstate has been a better program or more competitive most years.

The way to become similar to KSU would be for OU to never make the Final Four and become largely irrelevant on the national scene for several decades.

Seriously?!? I'd suggest that you actually do the research then because it isn't even close by any metric over the last several decades -- tourney appearances, conference standings, head to head record, Final Fours, All Americans, overall record.

With respect, maybe you should do the research? Feels are fine -- we all have them -- but it never hurts to double-check to see if those feels are well-founded.

Otherwise, you end up with what Stephen Colbert used to jokingly call "truthiness."

How about the last several years? That was my point. I wasn't really comparing programs 10-20-30 years back. Our guys aren't developing and I knew that Kstate had guys similar coming out of high school to OU the past 3-5 years. Even during the Buddy years they were pretty good. 14/15 and 15/16 Kstate was not good! Other than that the last 10 years I'd Kstate has been better. The final 4 of course helps OU's argument during that time though.

OU went to the Final Four 3 years ago

Nice one! Really the whole post was more about players and how each programs were similar the last several years. Kstates guys have developed much better recently. I never said OU BBALL as a whole program was worse than Kstate. So I don't understand why I'm getting ish on that. I just think we should be in a similar position to State right now and we aren't close!

But you keep acting like it's been this way for some years, when what you're really describing is a three-year period. Every program has dips and rises.

Again, OU was in the 2016 Final Four.

Of course we wish we would be in the top 3 of the Big 12 but acting like we are and have been trash for 2 decades.

Wait till Brown and Wade Leave see where Big Bad KSU stand.

we ARE like ksu...

2 years ago...all of my ksu buddies wanted Weber fired:woot

Will Manek be a "wade" by the time he is a Sr? who knows..

Last 9 years. Kstate=199 Wins. OU=167 Wins. (Final 4)

This year, Kstate will clearly finish much better and have several more wins as well. OU I believe has a better history, but the last 10 years Kstate has been more consistent. Both programs get similar ranked players most years.

I just am disappointed with the last couple of seasons and how are guys don't develop, but guys with the same type of talent are all conference with Kstate. Stating facts.. I think some of it can be on coaching, most on the individual players and then of course some luck.

Brown & Wade have started all 4 years. KSU just found 2 gems in the same year.

K State has more Big 12 wins than OU does since Kruger has been here. Similar programs. I'd give a slight edge to K state going forward.

I get what you are saying but OU has the final 4 appearance and KSU does not. They have en elite 8 loss to Loyola Chicago, who was a good team but no way a power 5 team should lose to a program like that in the elite 8.

Regardless, Weber has OU's number and I think that makes your argument valid. He beats us every time it seems. The difference is his teams are good on defense and not so much offense. We can't play defense to save our lives.

Matt Freeman being a 4 star tells you everything you need to know about the start system.

We should be better than they are but haven't been the last 3 years. Jordan's illness hurt us a bunch and then two straight classes of guys who have zero leadership and not much toughness. Khadeem and McNease have to be two of the weakest centers to play in the league for actually having good athletic ability.
Rashard and Christian never developed into the players we needed them to be. Neither of them are very athletic which has really made it difficult.

Some of you act like our final four appearance was like 10 years ago!!! It was THREE flipping years ago people!! Am I as disappointed as anyone how the last couple of seasons have gone?? Yes!! But if you want to FIRE coaches every other year because they don't win 25+ games a year...you will turn this program into a joke...where no coach would even consider coming! Keep everything in perspective people!! K state fans wanted Webber OUT of there as recent as before last season!! They have been fortunate and have hit on a couple of recruits that have been better than expected!!

But that doesn't mean we should all the sudden strive to be them!!
