Why does SC still have a job?

Especially after Texas fired their HC - their AD is hungry and hired a top 3 coach in the country to replace an already proven winner. This doesn't make any sense at all. Anybody in the know? Is Joe C. satisfied with where the program is? Lazy? Doesn't care much about the program?

All the above and maybe they getting little low on $$$

If they are getting low on cash, then they should fire Sherri and save some of huge contract cash.

There's plenty of cash to hire a great coach and there would soon be even more if we had someone who was putting out a product that filled the Lloyd Noble seats like Sherri and her teams used to do.

OU's one and only problem -- and it's the biggest one a program could have -- is their lazy, overpaid, stubborn head coach who think she's the only one who is right.

Amen!

She still has like 75 years left on her contract?

She has a bunch of OU big athletic donors that are protecting her. If OU fires her then they probably lose more in donations than her salary.

No doubt the total AD financial package is the major factor and donor thoughts are considered. Potential revenue/donor loss over the next 12 months could approach $75 million. Also 501 wins and 19 NCAA appearance in 24 seasons.

Career wins typically play a small role in whether or not a coach continues, especially for programs that have made it to FF's; men and women! Once they start to slide...and SC has slid all the way...they are replaced. Her contract should have never been extended. If Indiana could get rid of BKnight, SC should not have teflon coating. But I suppose this is what happens when you've got a few donors on your side, you miraculously get in the women's HOF and go to a few FF's...you sit on your laurels, act like you're Geno and no longer have camps, refuse to recruit players that will help to win, hire your child and FIRE two coaches that have more experience. But hey...it's clearly what works for OU! :D

For certain I was not justifying Sherri keeping her job only reasons why she probably was not fired.

The Board of Regents extended her contract through 2024 yesterday. Would not be at all surprised if Junior replaces her as head coach if Castiglione is still AD when she steps down.

Extended her effing contract through 2024????!!!!!!!

That's it. I'm done.

I'm going to try to go cold turkey this season and not watch a single game. It will be hard, but I have to think of my blood pressure.

Perhaps I will return to Wednesday night Bible Study and tinkering in my yard and garage on Saturdays or Sundays.

There's always softball too. Now there's a smart, dedicated, winning coach!

Hell, it's the perfect time to give up watching. They aren't going to be playing games anyway because of COVID.

If there are no games played this year it could hurt their attendance a little.

Having season tickets and attending all of the home games this past season I would estimate we averaged 800-1,200 fans per game at LNC. The 3 exceptions were Texas, Baylor and OSU when attendance was probably twice to 3 times as large.

When we played Baylor in Norman they had as many fans as we did. Pretty embarrassing afternoon, then the game started, OU got off to a good start, then Baylor scored 29 consecutive points from late in the first quarter through a big part of the second quarter. Even more shocking, Sherri does not call time out, she was dressed in white, ready to surrender I guess. I had driven up from Dallas to watch the game with two other OU fans. Had a great meal at The Mont before the game, then wanted to puke at halftime. Why does she have a job? Why does Coalton have a job? Why does Joe C do nothing? Why?

Did not and will not renew my season tickets until there is a change. Like that Joe?

Apparently not a problem. He has already lost 5,000 plus season ticketholders and just extended her contract through 2024 while she is on a 1-20 streak against Baylor the last 10 years with our only win coming in 2015 after going 16-7 against Mulkey her first 10 years.

That 1 win against Baylor in the last 10 years got her the extension

I really, really hope Joe C sees this and speaks to former and current players of color the women's basketball team to have an understanding of their experience and acts accordingly. This isn't okay.
