Going to be tough this year with Melo, KD, Gasol, Dirk, and Duncan at the PF spots on the ballot....

as much as i would love it, i cant see him voted a starter, and the coach will prolly slide him thinking "he is young and will have plenty of opportunities". Its bush league, but that is usually how things things work

Another factor working for him (or Odom for that matter) is that the game is at Staples...

An argument can be made that he should go over Carmelo and Gasol right now.

Its going to be interesting to see... There hasn't been a Rookie All-Star since Tim Duncan, so obviously it'd be a huge honor to get selected.

All star games in all sports are pretty dumb. As long as they mean nothing then that is about as much as you should expect to get from them. Letting fans choose something is dumb because fans are dumb, just like Jefferson and Washington didn't write that every person in the US could vote because people are dumb. But we pay the bills so you got to give us a piece of the pie. Unfortunately player selection for all-star games are like life, not necessarily fair. In a cool world Blake would be in the game easily, but when you wake up from your cool dreams to your crappy life that is all the example you need that nobody ever asked you what you wanted, you just get something and either deal with it or whine. You must change your life.

he has a few things going for him ...

first he is not going to be a starter ... he was 4th in voting the other day with durant and melo way out in front and even if melo gets traded dirk was still a bunch above blake

that being said blake is on a tear and i would bet that he gets 1 of the 7 coaches spots in the west ..... but just in case the coaches hold him back because he is a rookie he has 1 more wild card chance ..

Yao ming is going to be voted in as a starter .. and he can't play .. so the commish David stern gets to pick his replacement .. and with the game in LA .. i dont' see any way stern doesn't pick Blake if it comes to that..

Didn't think about that. Good point.

The game is in LA, he will dominate the rookie/soph game, and is single-handidly creating buzz the slam dunk competition hasn't seen since Vince Carter. Stern will not let this opportunity slip. Blake will be an All-Star because people want to see him. Stern is no idiot.

He certainly should be, but I'm not sure.

I'm going to go watch him tonight.

if you buy into the Stern controlling the league like a mafia
boss stuff this is what would happen.

I say yes...

Home Court is a factor, and i think he has earned the respect of the coaches that will be choosing the reserves...

I know there are a lot of other deserving candidates, but he is easily one of the best players in the league...if there has been a rookie that has deserved it in the past 20 yrs, it is him...

How does Dirk's injury, and the Mavs' subsequent suckage, help Dirk's chances?

Dirk will go over Blake.

If Dirk chooses not to play due to injury, that would also be helpful to Blake's cause.

Yes. The league is well aware of the buzz he is creating. I read where TV viewership is up 65% when he plays. Clippers home attendence numbers have sky rocketed. I'm betting he will be there somehow someway.

For example, I'm not watching unless he plays.

I find it hard to believe that he doesn't make the roster. Him and Kevin Love are both having historic seasons.

Of all forwards in the league he is 12th in ppg and 4th in rebounds per game. For F/C he is 3rd in reboudning and 2nd in ppg. How is that not an NBA All-Star?

In the west for F/C he 3rd in rebounding and first in ppg. He is crushing the production of Tim Duncan and substantially out performing Gasol. He curshes everyone in highlight real plays.

Well he didn't make the starting lineup but that was kinda expected....
