Wilson to Arkansas

I understand where you are coming from about the California recruiting hot spot we had. But, all I'm saying is that Oklahoma has some of the most overlooked talent, and it's not the other schools that are over looking them it's mainly OU!

No doubt in my mind if we would of atleast signed 2 or more in state players back in 2008-12, Sherri would atleast had 1 National title by now. Think about it. You had the Paris twins era which brought us only 1 final 4. Drob and company got us another after but we cannot seem to get over the hump!

Let's just take a took to see what players we missed out on during this time who I think could of had an impact on our success.
2007

Eurniesia Williams-Sapulpa HS: Signed with Texas
Danielle Gant- Putnam city West: Signed with Texas A&M
Sade Morris- Norman HS: signed with Kansas

2008
Would loved to have the duo of The bigs in the Tulsa area. Brewer and McGee

Alyssia Brewer-Sapulpa HS: McDonald's all American Signed with Tennessee transferred to UCLA.

Tia McGee -Jenks: top 25 recruit nationally coming out of HS. Signed with Georgetown

Angel Goodrich-Sequoyah Talequah: (One of my All time Oklahoma favorites) Signed with Kansas

Liz Lay-Southeast HS: (OU was the favorite at one point and time then all of a sudden disappeared off her list) signed with Washington, later transferred to SWOSU cause of nagging knee injuries.

2009

Kevi Luper-Adair-Signed with ORU, one of the leading scorers in NCAA history! And #1 all time scorer at ORU! The girl could flat out play! No questions asked!
Another one of my all time Oklahoma greats!

Toni Young-Del city HS: Signed with Oklahoma State. Would of complemented Ny Stevenson in a variety of ways.

Taleya Mayberry: Tulsa Washington: signed with Tulsa. 2nd all time leading scorer in Tulsa history. Was very suprised when she was not a sooner. I think she would of complemented DROB very well.

Ashely Bruner-Norman HS(right in sherri's own backyard!) signs with South Carolina! And did an amazing job helping Dawn Staley jump start that program!

2010
Richa Jackson-Midwest city HS, McDonalds all American, top 10 nationally, signed with DUKE

That's all I could think of right now during that time era. Take a look at the names and what they brought to their respective programs. Your telling me none of these young ladies would of contributed At OU for a national championship?

2012:
Courtney Walker-Edmond Santa Fe- now currently at Texas A&M,2time Oklahoma Gatorade player of the year, SEC 1st team, AP All American, Wooden Watchlist, and the list goes on.

2013
Jessica Washington:Jenks-Signed with North Carolina, now at KU. Prolific scorer, McDonald's all American, USA u17 gold medalist.

2014
Toree Tompson -Broken Arrow- Signed with Ole Miss, now at TCU. Ok Gatorade player of the year.

2016 Aaliyah Wilson-Muskogee- signs with Arkansas, top 25 nationally, Future McDonald's all American maybe.

The list goes on......

I have a good feeling about Llanus staying committed so that's a plus, but this is getting ridiculous.
Just think if we had atleast 2 of each class where would we stand.

WOW.....that is a lot of kids to escape the state.

Yes. That is an interesting list. We didn't sign Gant because we couldn't because of grades or something, and we were surprised when A&M did.

How many girls on your list won national titles where they went? Was there a reason that they didn't come to OU? Look back to see how many out-of-state girls that we have had.

Here is a curious fact. When A&M won their national title, the two stars were from Kansas City (Adams and White). Another was from Memphis. They had to go out of state. But, they had lost some in-state recruits. When Baylor won in 2005, where were Sophia and Wabara from? That team was a run-of-the-mill team without Sophia.

Everyone gets recruits from out of state. Everyone loses recruits from instate.

I only really missed Gant.

8 kids were from Texas on the A&M team
7 kids were from Texas on the Baylor team

When you lose both Ogwumikes, Mulkey, a couple to UCLA and USC, a couple to Tennessee, you aren't exactly getting all of the instate prospects.

Texas has over 27 million people by 2015.
Oklahoma has about 3.9 million.

We tend to recruit only about 10 Oklahoma football players, the rest coming from predominantly Texas, but also elsewhere. I can remember having only about four to six that we wanted.

We need to have avenues elsewhere.

Maybe SC is use to the money and feels she doesn't need to work as hard? Or maybe the young girls just don't like her..I dunno.

You are right, no one will never get all but you have to keep more than you lose. That's why i pointed out that over half there scholarships were Texas kids. It's really about building relationships with the kids at a young age. I remember seeing Baylor at Morris games while she was in the 8th grade.....Baylor and Texas A&M were at Richards games in middle school. All the Texas schools had offered those by the 8th grade.

Ogwumike both were committed to Baylor but on the day of signing they signed with Stanford. To this day Mulkey has been upset with Cy fair for this, but you have to understand who there mom is.

Also i will say this......the kids who left since the 2012 season are all behind one guy.

What does "behind one guy" mean?

And what is meant by "the kids that left"? Left where? Where did they go?

From what I had read, her going to Arkansas is no surprise. I thought I had read it on this board but maybe it was on another.

I don't understand the notion that Sherri "let them get away," at least not without any proof it went down that way with some of these girls.

I also remember when Beky Preston signed with OU - and the folks in Albuquerque just freaked out. But it was also pretty comical to hear some of the comments, like the UNM fans' thinking she picked an inferior program. I think those three double-digit wins we had toward the end of Preston's career (I think the third was after she graduated) over UNM pretty much put an end to that "thinking."
