Young injecting himself into national awards debates already | NewsOK

Sometimes. you see someone so special, so much above what you are accustomed to seeing, that they almost become mythical. I guess that I've seen about all of them in the past sixty years. Four people put me into a state of disbelief:

Wilt Chamberlain could break any record he chose to break. Would have been the best big man of any generation, somewhat like a Jim Thorpe.

Alvan Adams---he was just so much above what I had seen at OU. Guy gets about twenty-nine rebounds and twenty-five points in his first game, you simply don't believe what you just saw.

Curry at Golden State---surely he just didn't throw up a shot while falling down forty feet from the basket and hit it. Yes, he did.

Trae Young does things I just haven't seen done in college. He throws up shots that look like an afterthought from four feet beyond the arc, and buries them. He does whatever he wants on court, scores twenty in five minutes while heavily-guarded to keep him from shooting. I don't think we'll see another Trae Young passing through Norman again, unless he somehow ends up at OKC. I don't believe what I am seeing, and I just saw it. Since it can't be done, or statistically shouldn't be done, there has to be some explanation, and I don't drink.
