Your favorite OU sharpshooter of all time

Tough call because I loved them all but I will go with Terry Evans.

Terry Evans, Dave Sieger, and Brent Price were my favorite shooters. All of them were lights out.

Nate Erdman,Dave Seider,Brent Price,Terry Evans.I love Hollis Price but to call him a sharpshooter is inaccrrate.A sharpshooter is an accurate jumpshooter, especially from distance and that is not Hollis. Calvin Curry? are you kidding me? He was a mediocre shooter eho shot way too much.I'll show my age and throw a couple of other names out there- Aaron Curry and John McCullogh.

Crazy talk.

Hollis' three point percentage is one of the best ever at OU. For his career, he finished at 39.2%. Based on what I could find at Soonerstats.com, for all qualifying players, that ranks 5th behind Brent Price, Raymond, Heskett, and Erdmann. But he had more makes and attempts than any of the 3 ahead of him, and the percentage difference is so small, I could argue that Hollis was the best three point shooter in OU history.

As for the other guys, I think both played before the three point line. Really hard to make that argument, b/c I guarantee they weren't shooting the same shots the current players are.

Not sure he qualifies as a "sharpshooter" but I always liked Tim McCalister's ability to hit a shot. He made 2.6 3-pointers per game his senior year (first season of 3-point line in Big Eight). Third all-time in points scored at OU.

He didn't shoot as many of them as the others already mentioned, but Quannas White was pretty darn nails when he did decide to pop one (43.5 % for his career).

Freshman T Mac was sweet against KU to win Billy's 1st Big 8 title. Wayman made them sag in on him and opened Tim up and he was money. This was the ring finger game of legend.

Seiger, Price and T-Mac have to be ranked among the best. But Hollis was was my favorite, because he was money at crunch time.

My memory is that hit a game winning 3 pointer on a regular basis during his senior year. I am sure it happen far less often than my memory likes to think but the guy did make a bunch of big shots.

I always remember a game at KU where he'd hit a bomb. Next time down they'd get out in his face and he's just back up and bomb away again. I loved him.

As long as us old farts are weighing in, how about Cary Carabine?

Kelly Newton is another one that had an absolutely sweet stroke.

Mike Neal also had it rolling his junior year - I think it was against Colorado that he went absolutely bananas.

Had the 3 point line been a part of the college game in the late 70's, John McCullough would have gone down as one of the best 3 point shooters in OU history.

As for players after creation of the 3 point line Tim McCallister, Dave Sieger, Brent Price, and Hollis Price are probably the best IMO.

Cade Davis is my favorite OU basketball player of all time because I got to see all his games up close and he gave OU all he had. Wayman would have been my favorite if I had been able to see him, I'm sure.

But I dont consider Cade a sharpshooter. He turned into a good all-around player.

Kelly Newton is my favorite sharpshooter. He was automatic if open, and he's a good guy.

Pretty much all of the '79 Big 8 champs team could shoot from what became the three-point line. Carrabine and Stotts could also nail it from deep.

David Little, who came to OU right after I graduated, had some nice range also, especially against a certain team that played in Gallagher Hall. :ez-roll:

Since you said favorite I'm going with Calvin Curry. I'm probably dating myself here, but he he reminded me of Isiah Thomas on one of the early NBA Games for Sega Genesis, he had a sweet spot from about 40 feet out. Dude always thought he was "hot" so no need for a heat check.

I loved to watch Calvin Curry warm up. He would stand out of bounds and drain that baseline 3 about 10 times in a row while the crowd went nuts. I loved him.

My personal favorite was Brent Price. He was there when I was there, and he was the best 3-point shooter we ever had IMO. I was never a big fan of Angelo Hamilton. Maybe it's because he came in with so much hype about him being a sure fire lottery pick. I just don't think he ever lived up to expectations, although he had a sweet 360 in Cameron Indoor.
