He seems like a perfect transitional hire. He can clean up the program build it back to being a March fixture then about 5 or 6 years from now we can send him out the door and hire the next young guy or a guy in this region that is the next hot guy. I don't know if that's Terry Evans or Kellen Sampson or someone we haven't heard of yet.

Really? How does it make any sense to hire someone to "clean up" a program, and not someone that can build it back up?

There is absolutely no way this guy is OU's next basketball coach...

Unfortunately you are right. If Bruce makes it into the CBI, NIT or MM once every three years, I will be happy. It is what it is. I'm sure Bruce has recruiting connections in this region. Recruiting should not be a problem for him. I knew all along we could trust Joe to make a great hire. Not only did Joe hit a home run but he also hit a grand slam.

Weber knows how to run a program and supposedly does it the right (clean) way. Is he a home run hire ? No but he would likely do a solid job here. It's becoming clear Joe C and Co don't want to take another chance on a mid major guy without experience handling a big time program. Sure Weber may be safe but if safe gets us to the tourney every year ala Sampson is that such a bad thing ?

I would love for OU to hire Webber, and if so...there could be a chance some of those recruits(four 4stars) ask for releases from their LOIs and follow Webber over this way...mabe not tho, they are all from Chicago

His resume isn't exactly mediocre. He's won 20 games or more in 9 of his 10 seasons as a head coach. He's also gone to 3 Sweet 16 or better in that span. Granted he had Self's talent for 2 of those. He would be a damn good hire.

You have seemed very negative about virtually every name discussed (I know you like Mack). Whats the deal?

This is an average hire. It's a clean up hire. Obviously Weber benefited from Self's boys early on at Illinois. Since then I've slowly watched that Illinois program become less spectacular but nonetheless competitive. I suspect this was a safe hire where OU can not afford ANY more NCAA infractions thanks to Sampson and Capel's tenures.

I just hope with Weber's fresh start, he has some good fortune early at OU.
