Your Thoughts If It's Weber

If Weber is selected as the OU's next basketball coach I will probably surrender my seaon basketball tickets which I have owned for better than 24 years. It will, to me, be an acknowledgement by the adiministration the OU no longer wants to be the best it can be on the hardwoood.

Weber is 44-44 in the Big 10 conference since Bill Self's recruits left Illinois. Enough said.

It's ironic that Illinois hasn't been quite the same program under Weber since Kelvin Sampson plucked Eric Gordon right out of Weber's hands.

Weber reminds me a bit of a poor man's Tubby Smith. He's an excellent coach who may not be able to bring a high level of talent to OU. Tubby did his best at Kentucky with someone else's players, same with Weber at Illinois.

I voted "average" for the hire.

Here's a real question:

If we are willing to hire Bruce Weber, why didn't we give Capel one more year?


Now THAT doesn't make sense.

Because Weber is a better coach and can run the program. Very evident Capel could not run the program.

His resume isn't exactly mediocre. He's won 20 games or more in 9 of his 10 seasons as a head coach. He's also gone to 3 Sweet 16 or better in that span. Granted he had Self's talent for 2 of those. He would be a damn good hire.

I'm with Nick. He might not be a home run but he could certainly bring stability to the program and get us back in the right direction. I wouldn't be upset with the hire.

Indy, you can probably confirm this since you live in Big 10 country, but Bruce Weber is despised in most of the Big Ten. He is a classless punk- see his "funeral" for Bill Self and his constant whining about the Eric Gordon switch. The Illinois fans don't really want him, and he is as arrogant a coach as I've ever met- I saw him refuse to give an autograph to a man solely because his wife was wearing an Iowa shirt. Weber is a snake oil salesman and being around him always gave me the creeps, well before the Eric Gordon saga.

I'm with a couple other posters here- if OU hires Weber I will not spend a dime on OU BB until he's gone.
