Buddy Hornbeak Cousins Spangler Cam have all already made great strides and will surprise every one of us next year!!we will be at least a NIT team

NIT is for sucks!

It is better then not playing in the post season at all isnt it? If we miss out on the NCAA i would be happy still be going to the NIT. We have an really young team but enough talent and good coaching to keep us on the bubble.

There is a better chance of me getting drafted into the NBA, than Cam averaging 15ppg next season.

Cam was a top 30 recruit in the 2010 class. each year his shot has gotten better and i personally know he is now working harder then he ever has.
he was shooting about 50 percent most of the time last year besides Buddy he will be 1 of our top scorers.he had double digit points his fresh and soph year

No, it isn't. Missing the NCAA Tournament is a monumental failure for a program like OU. Poor coaching, lack of talent, poor effort, something was amiss.

All it takes to make the tourney is a top 45 finish or so and be in the top half of the conference. OU certainly has the budget and infrastructure to do no worse than that.

An NIT bid validates failure. I would rather the kids go on spring break and the staff, if retained, spend their time figuring out how to correct the problems that caused the failure.

15 ppg is a pretty tall order. But, the chances of Cam being the leading scorer next season don't seem all that remote to me.

I'm familiar with Cam's HS ranking.

There were only six Big 12 players that shot 50% or better from the field last season. Only one of those was a guard. I know Cam is kind of that hybrid 3/4, but he isn't the type of 4 that is going to be able to get a bunch of easy looks inside.

And I still think one of the reasons Cam shot the ball so well is b/c he wasn't asked to shoot it very often. He wasn't one of the top 3-4 options on offense, so LK could put him in good situations, and tell him to take good shots. We didn't need him to force things. If you give him a big time scoring role next season, his shooting percentage will dip. It may dip anyways.

I just don't see the minutes being there for him to get that opportunity. He'll split minutes at the 3 with Hield (who will play a lot) and maybe a guy like Booker. He'll split minutes at the 4 with Bennett and maybe Avila.

I just don't think LK is going to ask Cam to score that many points.

i agree miss the NCAA will suck but getting our very young team in the NIT would be huge for the following season for more games. I believe we have a chance being a top 25 team in 2015 and 2016

so who leads our team in scoring your top 5?

If they don't make the tourney this coming season, the only way they will be a top 25 team the following season is if better players show up for that season. A non tourney qualifying team to top 25 with the same players and coaches is a bridge too far.

Playing another 3/4 games at the end of a failed season won't change that. Yes, I know. There are exceptions to do that. But, those are the exceptions, not the norm.

Too many unknowns, but if I were guessing today, I'd say:

Hield
Hornbeak
Spangler or Bennett
- Maybe Cam here

I could see Cam as our 3rd or 4th leading scorer, but not really any higher. IF Cam somehow ends up 1st or 2nd, I don't think we're an NCAA team, and probably noticeably not as good as last year's team. JMO.

As incredible as Ro was last year, he only averaged 16ppg. Just hard for me to see Cam essentially duplicating that effort.

Also hard for me to predict Cam outscoring Hield, when this past season as a true freshman, Hield outscored Cam. And Hornbeak wasn't far behind him.

I think LK realized last year that the best way to get somewhat efficient offense out of Cam was to really limit him on offense. Cam only took one three pointer last year. That wasn't on accident. Cam's minutes went down. That wasn't on accident. LK did with Cam last year what Kelvin was really good at doing.....putting role players into roles that allow them to be efficient.

Maybe Cam will surprise me. I have nothing against the kid. I just don't think he will. I don't think he has the basketball skills to do that. Athleticism? Absolutely.

I am not talking about being pre season top 25 i mean we will have a shot at getting it after winning our games. 2015 roster will be good Buddy Hornbeak Cousins Spangler will be juniors and will be some of the big 12s best. and i think we add a nice recruit also and Booker Bennet Woodward will all be better.2016 i think we can win the big 12 and make a deep NCAA run

Either the talent is on the current roster to make the tourney next year or it isn't. Now, I think it is. But, I could be wrong. If it isn't there, then the incremental improvement most players make from season to season won't be enough to move a team from outside the top 45 to inside the top 25.

That kind of movement requires a talent upgrade or a coaching change. Using the past season's team as an example, it took a coaching change and a talent upgrade to move from outside the top 45 to just inside the top 40.

If this next team does make the tourney, then I would agree with you. Going forward, more experience and a new player or two sprinkled in should make OU a viable top 25 or better team.

my mistake he would play more minutes but i do believe Cam and Buddy are our 2 best players next year

i know cam personally and he will suprise us all this year he is working the hardest he ever has
