2016-17 Season: What Players Big 12 Teams are Losing, Returning, and Adding

Texas Tech added Quinnipiac transfer Giovanni McLean(6'1 RS/Sr PG) today. He will be immediately eligible as a graduate transfer. Averaged 12.9 ppg/4.7 rpg/3.3 apg during the 2015-16 season.


Oklahoma State added juco transfer Tyrek Coger(6'8 RS/Jr C) yesterday. Averaged 12.2 ppg/7.0 rpg at Cape Fear JC during the 2015-16 season.

Wasn't this guy committed to us before we said no in favor of Walker a couple years ago? How does he still have eligibility?

McLean wound up playing his final junior-college season at Westchester in 2013-14. The team went 28-5 and made the nationals. He led the team in scoring at 16.8 points per game and shot 43.7 percent from 3-point range. Coaches from high-major schools — serious high-major schools including Oklahoma’s Lon Kruger — were interested in signing him.

McLean even gave a commitment to Oklahoma, but there was a Big 12 Conference rule regarding the number of semesters a prospect must spend at a particular junior college that would have required he sit out a season before competing for the Sooners. He’d done enough sitting. Led by assistant coach Eric Eaton, Quinnipiac had been recruiting him all along. He chose the Bobcats.

I don't think we were in favor of Walker, he couldn't get eligible or something of the sorts.
 
Due to a new format for Cyclone Fanatic I had to change how I update the thread. So going forward the first 10 posts of the thread is every team.

I was unable to update the thread over the past few weeks. So here are a few Big 12 updates from the past few weeks.


Texas Tech added Depaul transfer Tommy Hamilton, IV(6'11 Sr C) today. He will redshirt during the 2016-17 season. He averaged 8.6 ppg/5.5 rpg last season.

Texas Tech's C.J. Williamson(6'6 Fr G) announced he was transferring on Aug 11th. Averaged 1.7 ppg last season.

Oklahoma State's Joe Burton(6'6 So SF) announced he is transferring to Valparaiso on Aug 6th. Averaged 4.7 ppg last season.

Oklahoma State's Tyree Griffin(5'10 So PG) announced he is transferring to Southern Mississippi on Aug 4th. Averaged 5.2 ppg/3.9 apg/3.0 rpg last season.

Oklahoma State lost a 2016 commit on July 21st. Tyrek Coger died due to an enlarged heart. Very sad news. Was ranked 21st by 247 Juco rankings.

Thanks for the updates, nallen! Looks like Okie State's new coach is doing a little house cleaning, with Ibaka, Burton and Griffin on the transfer list.

Coger's tragic death is by far the worst news of all. So sad!
 
No problem! Yeah it looks like Oklahoma State and Tech are both cleaning house.
 
Baylor's Mark Vital(6'5 Fr F) and Tyson Jolly(6'3 Fr SG) are redshirting.

Baylor's Nuni Omot(6'8 RS/Jr SF) is sitting out the first semester due to academic issues.

Kansas State's James Love, III(6'10 Fr PF) is redshirting due to a broken foot.

TCU's Alex Robinson(6'1 RS/So PG) is eligible to play for the 1st semester. Was initially not supposed to be eligible until Dec 17th.

TCU's Kouat Noi(6'7 Fr PF) is out indefinitely due to academic issues.

Texas Tech's Norense Odiase(6'9 Jr C) is out indefinitely due to a broken foot.

Baylor's Nuni Omot(6'9 RS/Jr SF) is now eligible to play on 12/14. He sat out the 1st semester.

Kansas' Carlton Bragg Jr.(6'10 So C) has been suspended indefinitely since 12/9.

TCU's Kouat Noi(6'7 Fr PF) has been out indefinitely due to academic issues since 11/11.

Texas' Mareik Isom(6'9 RS/Sr F) has been out indefinitely due to an ankle infection since 10/31.

Texas Tech's Aaron Ross(6'8 RS/Sr PF) has been out indefinitely with a leg injury since 11/23.

Texas Tech's Norense Odiase(6'9 Jr C) has been out indefinitely with broken foot since 11/11.
