Any info you can share?
I'd just be curious about what the "teams" were if they were running any 5 on 5.
I can't say much because we're pledged to no summer practice reports. We kind of snuck in and were aware summer practice visitors are officially not allowed. I don't want to say or do anything to jeopardize anyone else. The coaches can spend 2 hours/week with the team during the summer. They can meet 2 times/week. Yesterday was a 1 hour practice that was scripted out to the minute. Very organized. They even had a printout showing the duration of each drill.
There was no true 5 on 5. It was all situational stuff as you might expect as they integrate the new players into the system. The players freely rotate in and out of the drills. I was impressed by all 5 newcomers (counting Buford and McNeace). James seems to be healed up from his injury. Our returning players all look toned and played well..... Nobody is going to send any of the 4 starters to the bench.
One of the "regulars" told me Kruger doesn't use a whistle in practice because he wants the players to learn to listen for his voice during a game. There was no yelling by any of the coaches during practice. Kruger would sometimes quietly stop practice and explain something. The assistant coaches would explain things on the sideline but never stopped the practice to do it. Kruger was the only coach on the floor and the assistants were on opposite sidelines. It was all positive and the players and coaches encouraged each other. For example, I promise nobody is any harder on Buddy than Buddy who one time yelled out his own name in disgust.
Sam Grooms was hosting the recruit during practice. I believe any recruit who watches one of these practices has to be impressed. The entire aura of the practice was fun, positive, and uplifting.
Nothing disappointed me in the least. I would go again if I could. I'm even more encouraged by the team's prospects than I was before.
