2018 Recruiting

OU was also at a big tournament last weekend in Walnut Creek, California.

Decosta team was Playing, maybe Sherri is trying to get back in on her, also there to see 2019 Haley Jones...
 
I think Sherri said that she didn't like to recruit AAU teams because of the selfish play and poor fundamentals. She may have said that recruiting is a hard part of the job. Maybe that is just my recollection.
 
No, I believe she said specifically in one of her own columns she didn't like recruiting and the AAU stuff -- or at least said something to that effect.

She implied or said it, so it's out there.

Her recruiting is getting better, I believe. It lagged for a few years, that's for sure.

Since the 2009 class Sherri has been able to get atlest a visit from several top 20 players who went on to be Macdonalds All Americans... All tho 2014, and 2015 were the worse in terms of getting an elite recruit to visit, only Ortiz who was ranked in the top 20, in 2014 Asia Robeson took a visit to OU as well, but she wasn't an elite recruit...
 
Recruiting is a numbers game and you will probably only sign one in 3-5 that you heavily recruit. The need is to get the 3-5 blue chip recruits on campus annually you need to get the one you must have and on occasion a second to sign the dotted line.
 
Getting a kid to take a look isn't the ultimate goal. Taking a look is something, but not much more than that. It's getting the ink on the LOI.
 
I agree on both points, often times we are left with someone that could be more of a plan B recruit, I would call them a plan C, but normally the drop off between the talent levels are pretty obvious...
 
And VPL is the only one that matters because Ortiz and Manning are up and down like yo-yos and cannot be counted on for almost anything.

My only point is you cannot put all your eggs in one basket. And you need to get them to take a look see in order to get their signature.

if you look at Zipporah twitter account it's easy to see why OU would take a look at her, being ranked so high is just a bonus, I think she'll end up at an SEC school. Robertson is a little under the radar but both kids would be a help to OU...

Not sure what Sherri has planed but it looks like she's been going after a lot of point guards in this 2018 class...

We need to recruit and develop some inside players. Get ready for next year - it may be a long one. VP can play about half of a game, then is finished. Slow, not athletic, etc. We have to start looking at athletic inside players.

I believe OU is looking at a few transfer, it's possible one could be a post grad then they could play right away...

OU hadn't signed a impact player in the post since the Paris twins... not sure that's going to change anytime soon...

You are being pretty tough grader on what it takes to be an impact post signee...VPL was a top 60-80 player in the country and a top 10 post recruit.
 
I think VPL may be the best recruit we've had sign and play since Abi.
