2019 Juco Williams Committed

Boom.

It'll be interesting to see how this kid pans out at OU. He has some things to like about his game.

Oklahoma landed a pledge from 6-foot-5 JUCU Guard Alondes Williams.

Averaged 13.8 points, 6.3 boards and 2.7 assists last season, including a team-high 22 points in a winning effort in the NJCAA DII Juco National title game, via

Anybody know Kruger’s reasoning for choosing him over Etienne? Also, what are our chances of landing Hall?

Maybe Williams said “Yes thank you” and Etienne said “Take a hike”?

Guessing experience. Maturity. Capable scorer/shooter they are looking for. And evens out the classes.

I think Hall ship has sailed. Save 1 ship for grad transfer or 2020 class

I didn't realize they were a DIi JUCO. Still looks like he could be a solid player.

4 commits this month and everyone is tired...

Jucos are the lifeblood of a basketball program. Or so some posters tell me. ;)

Well I gotta say it's a head scratcher taking a juco over a highly rated HS player. But maybe Kruger is trying to balance it out..

I don't know how all these new guys will pan out, but I gotta say the staff has earned a big pat on the back from me this cycle. With the lack of recruiting info from a little over a month ago to hopefully signing 3 ESPN Top 100 HS guys is great. Hopefully the jucos are good too.

I had worried that after two straight dismal seasons that Kruger was kind of riding off into the sunset. Well it appears they worked pretty hard this cycle and want to be competitive again. Kudos!

OKLAHOMA

The Sooners landed two Rivals150 commitments and two more from the junior college ranks in September, replenishing their cupboard with four competitive and tough-minded prospects. Victor Iwuakor’s commitment last month was vital, as he is an elite rim presence that changes shots, gobbles balls up on the glass and finishes with ferocity. Jalen Hill, another four-star prospect, has the chance to cultivate his talents in Norman and round out his game as a shooter, finisher and do-it-all producer. Toss in high-upside junior college big man Corbin Merritt and shot making wing Alondes Williams and Oklahoma basketball enters October in a good situation.

It is kind of funny that after months of concern/criticism over the fact that we only had one commit, the board hasn't seen much action over the past week or so. Who knows how the situation with Williams/Etienne played out -- maybe the staff had a strong feeling that Etienne wasn't going to choose us, so they moved on quickly rather than waiting. Or maybe they decided that balancing the classes was the better move. Or it could be something else entirely. Regardless, I think we should all be pumped about these five players, in addition to Reaves. Even if a couple of these players don't pan out as we would hope, this has all the makings of a class that should impact the program for years to come.

Agree 100%. Nations NUMBER 5 class.

I know that'll drop with the 5 stars committing soon but even a top 12-15 class is great.
