2021 Recruiting

I'll summarize as best I can from what little info is out there:

Trey Alexander--supposedly led at one time. Then he and his "Team Alexander" started to question his role with OU. Not sure where it stands currently.

Damion Collins--50/50 between OU and Texas. Grew up a Texas fan but Kruger has done a good job on him.

Angalog Akwinokafor--a 7-5, 200 lb post that OU leads for, but has no other offers. Is a GREAT rim protector. Lacking offensive skill at this point. Considered a project by some, and will need to add some muscle.

Cy Lazenby--6-0 guard cousin of Ty. Great 3 point shooter but working on defending at any level. Has dominated the Oklahoma JC driveway league. OU evaluating but close to an offer.

HahYou had me going on the 7-5 kid but the cy Lazenby bit gave away the troll. Solid nonetheless.

Any video out there?

Knee jerk reaction: I just don’t see the need to take this kid. Unless of course we aren’t getting Trey.

Trey still in play.

Collins is ou or Texas.

Cj noland has an offer that he can commit. Junk yard dawg type.

Arthur is in play but I’d guess long shot.

JAHMAI MASHACK top 40 player

Collins gonna tough to land

Ya think?
Top 25 player. Not from Oklahoma. Offers from KU and UT.
Odds of him coming to Norman = slim/none unless he's a head case or someone on the coaching staff pays off a debt for him. Or both.

Collins gonna tough to land

Are you saying that because of the Meyer CB switching back to Texas today? Do you know why?

Weird recruitment... If I remember the timeline correctly:

—Coach says awhile back he thinks we land Collins. Says he loves Norman and is buds with Bijan.
—He then gets two CBs to Texas, Coachtalk also says his sources say that too.
—Seymore Cox goes against the grain and says OU leads big for Collins and Alexander. Collins spending summer with Bijan?
—Both those guys then start getting CBs to OU and everyone gets excited.
—Then out of the blue OU having issues with Alexander
—Meyer switches his CB for Collins back, again, to Texas.

What’s going on? Sheesh not for the faint of heart..

I do not subscribe to OUInsider because of one individual who works for them (long story). Anyway, there were a few articles about OU’s top targets over the weekend. Since there are some here who do subscribe, I figured the news wasn’t too good. If it was, someone would have at least posted the cliff notes of those articles.

I honestly could care less about “team Alexander”, but losing Collins would hurt. Kruger can develop guards, but needs some talented bigs when he can get them.

Well, this thread was up and now it’s down. That sucks.

Recruiting is obviously incredibly important to any program’s success, but this situation is why I try (sometimes unsuccessfully lol) not to spend too much time thinking about specific recruits. Things change so quickly and the pendulum swings back and forth so much that focusing on every rumor just causes so much stress. That said, it clearly would be disappointing if we don’t land Collins or otherwise come out with a very good class.

Welcome to recruiting.

Recruiting can be frustrating sometimes. If you’re an OU fan, it’s rare that it isn’t.

I even find myself wishing Lon wasn’t always squeaky clean, so it would be easier to land more five star recruits and fill the remaining spots with no worse than four star kids instead of projects. Then, I remember why I sleep better now when there’s talk of NCAA trouble ahead for schools with coaches that aren’t playing fair.

As I sit patiently waiting for the hammer to drop on well known cheaters like Self and KU, I’m also reminded about another reason recruiting is frustrating. It never ends!

I am going to be upset when Josh Baker from Hutchinson CC, the best 3pt shooter in juco basketball, goes to TCU and has two really good seasons, immediate impact, etc and we, yet again, didn't offer.

It would be especially frustrating if he leads them to their first win over us in approximately 100 years. Your infatuation with TCU is odd.
