2021 Recruiting

I am going to be upset when Josh Baker from Hutchinson CC, the best 3pt shooter in juco basketball, goes to TCU and has two really good seasons, immediate impact, etc and we, yet again, didn't offer.

Has TCU offered? His best offer so far appears to be Houston.

That said, a 6”4” guard who averaged 49% on a high volume of threes and 84% from the free throw line is worth at least a look IMO. Of course, I have always been a fan of filling specific needs with an occasional juco player.

It would be especially frustrating if he leads them to their first win over us in approximately 100 years. Your infatuation with TCU is odd.

I just say that because TCU and Arizona are giving him interest right now. Typically juco interest from "high majors" comes a little later.

Of course, you guys know that I think OU should recruit them earlier and get a commitment before his offer list includes a ton of good programs that we eventually lose out to.

Welcome to recruiting.

Oh i've been following OU football and basketball recruiting for many years actually. Football always seems crazier, but this year it seems to be crazy with basketball. Hope Lon and crew can land on their feet, we'll be needing a couple of bigs to replace Manek and Kur.. Especially when you consider my guy Angalog isn't real...

Recruiting can be frustrating sometimes. If you’re an OU fan, it’s rare that it isn’t.

I even find myself wishing Lon wasn’t always squeaky clean, so it would be easier to land more five star recruits and fill the remaining spots with no worse than four star kids instead of projects. Then, I remember why I sleep better now when there’s talk of NCAA trouble ahead for schools with coaches that aren’t playing fair.

As I sit patiently waiting for the hammer to drop on well known cheaters like Self and KU, I’m also reminded about another reason recruiting is frustrating. It never ends!

the only problem is it NEVER does...not enough anyway.

Gives a little update on Alexander & Collins. Also at the bottom has OU as the Darkhorse of the Big12.

In reading that article, they mention Kam McGusty and Miami. I didn’t know he was still playing. It seems like so long ago when he was here. Blast from the past.

Anyway, as an OU basketball fan, I’m accustomed to disappointment when it comes to recruiting. Still hoping.

Evans says we still lead for Collins, but Jerry Meyer has upped his confidence level to a niner(9) for his crystal ball for Collins to UT. Evans also said that even though we lead for Alexander right now he's doubtful we land him. Kind of contradictory and strange if you ask me..

I will say this about Kruger. He sometimes pulls guys out of nowhere like the wing(O'Garro). I mean nobody knew about OU and that guy. So, I guess we can hope for him to do again(or twice). When is signing date again?

Thanks for the update, Stikboy!

Signing Day is November 11th.

Yeah and I will say Jerry Meyer flips his picks a lot based on new info he gets. The Alexander part was weird to me as well.

I'm not sure when signing day is or if it will get moved around with everything going on.

OU is in good shape with Collins. They're selling point is developing him on the perimeter. Texas wants him to be Jaxon Hayes or Miles Turner. KU is making a late push I hear. I also hear he may decide early as opposed to late.

Alexander's recruiting is a complete mystery. A lot of the schools that offered him have picked up guards.

Nice info, thanks.

Do you know of any backup plan bigs OU is in on?

Kentucky trying to pry jai Lucas away from Texas. That will help if it happens and UK doesn’t offer Collins.

IMO Alexander is going down south.

Starting to look bleak on both fronts. Can’t believe I got my hopes up for either one of these guys.

What are the chances Lon loses his mind this late in his career and starts using a bagman?

I want to believe, Coach. Would be incredible to land him. He is a 5 star talent on every recruiting site by end of the year.

We’ll see what happens. They are trying their hardest.
