Dang it! We really need an elite big to replace Beers. That’s critical to our success as we’ve learned the hard way.

OU and struggling to get bigs. A tale as old as time. Hopefully JB gets one soon. Beers will be gone, and OU will have no one down low to score.

You never know, it's still early yet! I know a lot of Bigs are probably worried about how fast we play and not being able to keep up, but that type of Big isn't one we'd want anyway, IMO.

Have we got a punchers chance with the tall girl that visited (unofficially) for the Auburn game (6'4 girl)? Any news on how her unofficial went?

Speaking of inside players, are we hearing anything about the tall French girl from anyone that has watched them practice? Is the thought, she will be good enough to contribute this year.

I’m not sure about this year. I just worry about her not having the frame to battle down low. We need a big body like Beers

She bothered to come on an unofficial visit so I would think at a minimum we have a punchers chance. Have to keep working hard on her recruiting…she has about 40 offers so she will have lots of choices.

On Saturday at 10:30 Central Sina Hollerl’s Austrian team is playing a game and it will be streamed on YouTube. Search for BK Raiffeisen Duchess basketball if you want to see her play.

I guess A&M made an offer to big to refuse for Porter…Aggies were bad last year…very likely bad this year…there is a good chance Joni Taylor gets fired at the end of the year.

Man, does OU just not want to pay for height? Just seems to be a perpetual problem for Jennie.

I get splurging for Chavez, but height will help OU more for 2026, given Beers leaving.

She even dumped on her aunt? That is plain cruel.

Anymore, it is hard to get to worried about recruiting when you can just buy kids out of the portal even if you aren't the best team recruiting them. If we need a big after this year, I assume Jennie will just hit the portal and give it a priority.

Fired up about this year. I think we are really going to be good. Established stars in Verholst, Beers and williams. Improving kids like Vann, Smith and Culliton, and 3 really promising freshmen.

Anyone know when practice starts?

When you stop and think about it, it often makes more sense to spend your NIL on portal players who have proven they can play at the D1 level.

I have read different opinions on that MsProud, but I completely agree with you. It make the most sense to me to spend your limited NIL funds on proven players. There can be exceptions I suppose, but I can't think of one, like maybe you find a "supercarrier" in the middle that could carry your team for 4 years. This being said, I am all for recruiting the best high school kids you can get and I understand that will require some NIL. But, I would save my big money for proven kids.

Lets hope Chavez is the exception and is good enough to earn the NIL commitment we made to her (whatever that was). It will be fun to see her play regardless. Can't remember a player that has come so hyped before (maybe Courtney Paris).
