2nd Report of FBI

crap, ku has had **** going on for 10+ years and NOTHING happens. Just this year the whole car thing with Preston. Dude leaves school and goes to Europe and it's all forgotten...:facepalm

nothing will happen now either.

To be fair, I think a lot of this was parents/street agents looking to get paid and not connected to the schools. Xavier released a pretty strong statement that they were not involved with any payments to the player that was in the report.

What are you talking about? KU is implicated along with Duke, Kentucky, etc.

The loan stuff was a joke. That's happening everywhere, and has nothing to do with the coaches and programs.

The Arizona stuff, on the other hand, is a huge deal. Miller is done. The other teams that have been recruiting similar athletes are Duke, KU, and Kentucky. Let's hope that all of them are buried, but that won't happen on the NCAA's watch.

You're right, the loans are really small potatoes. Wendell Carter's mom had lunch with an agent 2 years ago. This is a big deal? There's nothing in the article to even know who paid. And if the agent did pay, why should anyone care that a player's mom got a free meal? Remember when OU fans were outraged bc the NCAA didn't like that the football team got too much spaghetti?

The Miller thing is big -- clearly a huge violation -- but it's hardly news that agents want to make a connection to soon-to-be NBA players or that boosters try to give a few bucks to a college student. Anything that goes specifically to head coaches will be big from an NCAA standpoint, but not from a legal standpoint. Does anyone seriously think Miller's going to be prosecuted, or that he should be? Or that Ayton should be?

One line I read yesterday -- I think It was in The Deadspin article -- says it all. The only reason people care is because they want to see the teams they hate get killed by this. Lots of people love that Pitino got fired bc they hate him. Lots of people hate Duke and Calipari so they want to see them get killed. People here hate Kansas and want to see them get buried. And on and on it goes.

A few people will lose their jobs (but Miller will be rehired somewhere else after a sufficient "rehabilitation" period) but no real reform will occur and nothing will really change.

Why is condi rice so tied into college sports? I think she was or is on the playoff committee and she is mentioned in that story as chairing the committee to clean up college basketball

I have nothing against her I just thought she was a foreign policy expert not a sports expert.

People hate on those coaches and programs because they’ve been getting away with cheating forever. If we can all paynplayers without penalty, then open the market. If only a few are allowed to get away with it, then yeah, that’s BULL and a lot of people don’t like that unfair advantage given to a few chosen schools and coaches. If they cheated, they should be punished.

That's fine, but it they allowed paying players would OU belly up and pay the amount needed to match the big boys?
