5,400 tickets still available in Tulsa

I made the trek from OKC to Tulsa and went to all four games at the BOK on Friday. I thought Tulsa did a good job. The games were fun and my view was great from section 119.

Some items on the plus side ... Getting into the arena through security went very fast. This was MUCH better than what I have experienced several times at the new arena in Kansas City. Parking was easy and the parking rates were very reasonable compared to what I have been charged at NCAA Tournament events in other cities. I parked all day in a parking garage two blocks from the arena for $8.

Alas, food and beverage prices inside all arenas are pretty ridiculous.

Some items on the minus side at the BOK.:

1. Extremely long and slow lines at concession stands.
2. Extremely long and slow lines to get into the men’s restrooms.

Also, thank God there was no fire or other emergency. When the afternoon session was over, it took forever to exit the arena as the mob at the arena exits resembled those at the Texas State Fair after an OU-Texas football game.

But hey. I was there in person to watch NCAA Tournament games. It was a blast. It is a MUCH better experience in person than on TV.

Just wish the Sooners were playing.

These are the telltale signs of cheap construction. You have to put plumbing/appliances in restrooms/concession stands. You have to frame them up into additional rooms.

NOW we know where Boca's actual knowledge lies. In the crapper.

Explains a lot.

I thought Tulsa and the BOK did just fine.

Friday was the first NCAA tourney games I've been to, and I had a blast. The only long concession lines I saw were at the Billy's sites. They were slow, but to be fair, they are charring their burgers "real time", and not hours in advance. The other concessions all seemed to move fine to me, though I wasn't really out there between games. Of course they'll be crowed then.

Never had a problem getting into the restrooms either.

The thing I loved the most was that they didn't have ticket Nazi's checking tickets to get into the lower level. I went with two friends, and two of us had lower level seats, but the 3rd did not. It was never a problem. Even got to move down and watch the last game from mid-court, 7 rows up.

A great day of basketball.

Well, I'll get to check out the BOK for the first time tonight. This OKC resident is heading up the turnpike for some bball. A lower level free good seat is hard to turn down. Work is gonna suck tomorrow. Lol.

I had the same experience as you.

The "regular" concession stand lines with hotdogs/popcorn/etc. didn't seem crowded at at all, even in between games.

The "special" concessions, with the good stuff (Billy's burgers, grilled chicken, etc.) were a bit longer, but that's to be expected. I think if anything, they underestimated the amount of people who would want the "good" concessions and maybe need to add a few more of those in the future.

And the bathroom lines were a little long at halftime and in between games, but I've never had a different experience anywhere else.... the bathroom lines are always long at halftime and in between games.

I can't speak for other schools' fans, but the OU team of 2009-2010 took most of the interest in college basketball out of me. The Thunder may take away ticket sales, but that sorry attitude and product at Lloyd Noble took away interest.

I noticed yesterday that the BOK had 'converted' some of the women's restrooms to men's restrooms.

Ha! Really? That's kind of funny, actually.

I guess when the guys outnumber the girls about 3 to 1, something like that is necessary.

:)
