5 star Khavon Moore on Campus

Anybody know why he’s dropped so much in the rankings? There was talk about how he’s a top-10 ranked player in this thread from a year ago, but I don’t see him in the top 30 on any recruiting site now. Still a very good player, but the opinions of him seem to have soured a bit.

I rarely, if ever, take recruitniks opinions too seriously. He may have not grown like they thought he would, or his arms aren't as long as they thought. It is seriously stuff like that that can cause a player to drop. Not sure what caused it for Moore, though.

He is currently #41 on Rivals and #52 on 247. While he may have dropped a bit from 5 star status, it is nothing like the freefall of Kyle Hardrick.

I am not an evaluator of talent. I only rephrase what others have said and pass it off as my own. It seems to me has a a good basketball build and an overall solid skillset. But, he is lacking the highlight reel type athleticism that would earn him a fifth star or win him a dunk contest.

ESPN has him ranked as the #37 player in the 2018 class. He's kind of a 'tweener size wize, and CoachTalk mentioned he does everything pretty well. I do remember he was hoping to get an offer from Kentucky about this time last year.

The summer circuit is what matters, as that's when guys consistently play against players of a high caliber. He likely didn't perform well against his highly ranked peers.

Certainly nothing like Hardrick, but that was over the course of about 3 years. I imagine those scouts and evaluators had a much better grasp on Moore’s skills a year ago as a junior than they did on Hardrick when he was a freshman and it was all just projecting.
 
I look at Khavon Moore as somewhat similar to Kristian Doolittle. He is about the same size but is probably more of a 3 whereas Doolittle is more of a 4. I could see Moore eventually taking the reigns from Odomes when he graduates.

Hardrick's ranking was all based on his projected size and he never reached the 6-11 to 7-0 range as some had predicted.
 
If he commits, I do not think he can sign until spring.
He would be a great get.
