Pryor 62, El Reno 42
SKIATOOK — Pryor’s girls got off to a slow start Thursday, but only until junior guard Beverlee Caraway got into action.
Her three first-quarter three pointers and 13 points shot the Tigers into a lead they never relinquished en route to a 62-42 triumph over El Reno in the first round of the 5A state tournament in the Brooks Walton Activity Center.
Caraway totaled 25 points as the No. 6 Tigers (20-7) advanced to play in the semifinals at 6 p.m. Friday against the winner of Thursday’s final first round game between No. 2 Woodward and No. 4 Tahlequah.
Chloe Martin added 16 points for the Tigers and Massey Beard led El Reno (16-12) with 11.
Tulsa Washington 53, Lawton Ike 46
SKIATOOK —Booker T. Washington rallied from an eight-point deficit in the fourth quarter and knocked No. 1 Lawton Ike out of the 5A girls state basketball tournament 53-46 Thursday in first-round action in the Brooks Walton Activity Center.
Ike led 38-30 with 7:12 left, but the Hornets ran off 13 points to gain control. Camryn Fennell’s 3-pointer started the run, Victoria Nunez tied the game with another 3-pointer and Fennell’s hit another with 3:21 left to put the Hornets ahead to stay.
Rhys Anderson scored 13, Armani Reed added 11 and Fennell had 10 for the Hornets (23-5). Ike’s 6-foot-2 Jaeda Reed led the Eagles (18-7) with 15.
The Hornets advanced to play Coweta at 9 a.m. Friday in the semifinals.
Coweta 48, Lawton MacArthur 39
SKIATOOK —Coweta continued its Cinderella run in the 5A basketball playoffs with a 48-39 win over Lawton MacArthur in the first round of the state tournament.
Linda Brice scored 20 points as the seventh-ranked Tigers (15-12) rallied to play in the semifinals against Lawton Eisenhower or Booker T. Washington at 9 a.m. Friday at the Mabee Center.
MacAthur led 13-10 after one quarter and 24-19 at halftime, but Coweta rallied to tie at 28 in the third quarter and took the lead for good on a pair of free throws by Madison Gray with 5:27 left.
Madison Wheat added 15 for the Tigers, who had a losing record in the regular season but are 4-0 in the postseason.
Victoria Lewis led MacArthur (17-9) with 11 points.
Woodward 55, Tahlequah 32
SKIATOOK —Brennley Cloyd scored 13 and Gracen Williams added 11 to pace the Boomers, who led 29-17 at halftime and 44-22 after three quarters. Sierra L. Smith scored seven to lead the Metro Lakes Conference-champion Tigers, who ended their season at 20-8.
