GAME 22 - OKLAHOMA (16-5) @ #1 AUBURN (20-1) 8:00pm CST on SEC NETWORK

ESPN’s model gives us a 45 percent chance of making the tournament. The blurb said their model is more skeptical of us than most, and it’s because of the significant increase in the difficulty of the schedule, beginning last night.

Saturday seems like a must-win. If we lose, we would have to run the table at home the rest of the way to get to 7 conference wins. Moser has never shown the ability to put together a consistent stretch like that in conference play, even at home. A loss Saturday and we have zero margin for error.
45% seems about right given the schedule. The difference between 16 and 18 wins (which is where they needed to be) is staggering right now.

I think they’ll probably win two more. Hope to be wrong.

Calling a game against the #4 team in the country a “must win” is certainly something…
I guess it depends how low you’ve allowed your expectations to fall. If you don’t care about making the tourney or are happy with moral victories if we kind of/sort of compete, sure thing. No game is a must win in that case.

Just about every home game was a “must win” when OU was undefeated going into conference play. It’s especially true now that they dropped two home games they should have won.

It has less to do with how good Tennessee is, and more to do with OU’s situation.

Not sure I would call the Tenn game a must win, but it would certainly make life a lot easier if we can snag one against a Top 5 team. Of course the game is at 11:00 AM, and our crowd support is simply embarrassing. It makes me even more irritated when I see the other home crowds across the SEC. We are 16-6, not 6-16...there's zero reason to not be at least 75% full.

Tenn is beatable and has lost some games on the road, but I feel our best chances for wins are: LSU, MS, Mizzou at home. Kentucky is also very beatable and we have them in Normas as well. I think 4 more wins gets us in. The road games will be tough to snag a win. We are @ Mizzou, Florida, Miss and UT. I don't know if we can win any of those...we'd def have to have a great shooting night. The margin for error isn't big, but it's doable. Winning Sat increases that 45% chance to maybe 60% imo.

pm has eroded the trust and enthusiasm. He needed to not blow a&m at least (and prolly tejas too)

Was at the Vandy game and don't think LNC was 50% full. On top of that the crowd began to leave 3 or 4 minutes before.
the game was over. You would think fans would stick to the end and savior a really good win.

Come on, you know that is not what they are saying.

We need to win (at least) 4 out of the next 9.

The #4 team is not a MUST WIN. It would be a great win and would easily help our resume. But not a MUST WIN.

LSU, Miss St, One of the Missouri games, and Kentucky are MUST WINS.

The others are good boosters and nice to haves.

I agree with this except I actually think three wins plus one in the tourney would get us in. So, four overall. And three might even without a tourney win, but I wouldn't want to be sitting on Selection Sunday in that situation again...

There was no enthusiasm to erode.
You discount pm's past failings against big rivals. Isn't he like 0-8 against Texas now? Idk if he's ever even beaten kansas before, surely he has at least once. The pokes had our number too for a while. It adds up.

I explained my thinking. The road games are all losses. So we need four wins in five home games. I have zero reason to believe we could win four straight home games, so I think we have to get this game. Who the opponent is is largely irrelevant. You list at Mizzou as a possibility but I see that as an auto loss. Again, we are 1-1,000,000 on the road against tourney team. And Mizzou isn’t just a team that will squeak in. They are really good.

I am one who said TN is now a must win. However, I retract my statement. There are no must wins and the world will not end if we don’t win any more games at all. Even if you just think the language might just reference making the NCAA tournament we can always win a few more and convince ourselves it is enough to get in and then either cheer or complain when we are one of the last 4 in or last 4 out. This is OU basketball after all.

You'd be incorrect! Our guy is 0-6 against KU.
Blew a couple late leads (10 with 5:30 to play in AFH, for one) and also had a couple games where we played like garbage against them. There was a stretch when KU was dominating the league that we seemed to play them as well as anyone. Alas …
