A&M/UT to Big 10, OU to SEC?

If that's what you're hearing dren I guess I can't argue with that...but man it just boggles my mind that the Pac-10 would expand with CU and osu. Just really weird--what the heck does osu add practically to the conference? (I am not trying to disparage OSU, just trying to be pragmatic here...)

I will have more for you guys as I get it. My gut says this thing is constantly evolving ordeal

So if this thing is constantly evolving as you said, do you think Texas and OU will be willing to split up now? Or are UT and A&M also thinking of heading to the SEC? There are so many mixed reports right now with a lot of unnamed sources.

Re: How about some SEC basketball in Norman?

It's also dumb for OU because of recruiting. They recruit in Texas, Oklahoma and they've been building a base in California. Without Texas schools in the same conference and not getting the hype from Texas media that will hurt OU's recruiting in Texas. The Pac 10 makes more sense for OU because they get hype in 2 areas they are recruiting well right now. California and Texas if Texas goes with OU. It helps OU even more with the probation USC is on.

Yeah, I agree. A move to the SEC could be the end of OU football as we know it today. Take away those recruiting strengths like you mentioned along with now having too worry about 2-4 HUGE games a year (Florida, Alabama, LSU's of the world) instead of just one vs Texas to be in the national championship hunt. Ouch.

This thing is definitely about UT and A&M joining the SEC.

The entire thing is based on UT period. Whatever they do will force the other schools hands. Texas Football is King.

But Texas A&M has convinced Texas to listen to what the SEC is offering, which is believed to be their own TV network. I agree that this whole thing is about what Texas does, but it is because of Texas A&M that this SEC rumor has surfaced.

False.

The only program that compares historically to OU in the SEC is Bama. OU is superior to every team in that conference.

Over the last 10 years, the only programs that OU can't definitively say were better than were Florida and LSU. They are the only programs that can put up an argument.

And recently, with all of Saban's recruits gone from LSU, LSU has taken a step back while Bama and Florida are the alpha dogs of the conference. OU would be right up there as well.

OU would be just fine, and would still be one of the elite--if not the most elite--football program in the SEC.

I would be shocked if A&M and UT go to the Big 10. I just don't think it would happen. I think the plan will still be 6 Big 12 schools (all but Baylor from the South, and of course Colorado) to the Pac 10.

I know some of us complain about lack of support in bball, but if OU did go to the SEC, we would look like Allen Fieldhouse compared to every school in the SEC West sans Arkansas and sometimes Mississippi State. They are even more disinterested in basketball.

This is completely false. The Big 10 isn't even trying to get Texas. SEC wants Texas, OU, and A&M, but I think they are going to the PAC 10.

1. Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech appear to be in lock step to the Pac-10 but will wait til next week to announce anything. 9 minutes ago via TweetDeck
2. There is no truth to reports that Texas and Texas A&M are considering the Big Ten. But A&M is still considering the SEC. 11 minutes ago via TweetDeck

So this is completely random and clearly I have not substantiated this, but this was an interesting post from someone (who goes by the handle "The" on the OUI Football Board (some of you may have already seen it--apologies if this is a repost).

Again, I'm not vouching for the veracity, just thought it was interesting:

So I just got back from the airport, after a two week vacation in Tuscany and Italy's wine country, which is very nice and I strongly recommend this time of year for a visit to all of you, and who do I bump into just off the tarmac of the private aviation field, but **** Ebersol. edit: SHORT FOR RICHARD. Stupid filter.

I didn't think anything about it, I just shook his hand as I passed, "Good day, Mr. Ebersol." "Good day indeed, Mr. The" (we'd met briefly in Vancouver last year, and once before in Monaco) and we went about our way. It wasn't until the way home in the car that it occurred to me as to why Mr. Ebersol was in Oklahoma. I had the driver turn my car around and head over to the OU campus.

Sure enough, there was the same black caddy limo I saw Mr Ebersol get into at the airport parked near the Barry Switzer center.

So what does all this mean, you may ask? If you must ask that, then you must not have been conscious in 1984, the last time NBC was in town. Pac -10? SEC? Big 12? No my friends. Not for us. No, for us, NBC represents the most singularly glorious word in the Oxford English Dictionary.

I have beachfront property in Arizona for sale ;)

That's just someone being funny. Only Notre Dame can even afford to be an independent and try and get away with it, and they haven't been really that relevant for over a decade.

So if A&M is out, who would you rather have....Utah or KU?

This is so freaking stupid. This whole debacle just shows what a TOILET the "journalism" profession has become. Where are these people getting this information?? Prior to this I have seen absolutely NOTHING to indicate Texas had any thoughts whatsoever of joining the Big 10. Nor had I seen anything to indicate the Big 10 had Texas on their radar.
