A thought

The contact would not actually have been with Buzz, it would've been with a third party. That's how these things work. The coach can then always say they had "no contact" because technically it is true.

I suspect he has shown enough interest to make us think we can get him, or we would have probably moved on. (Unless or next candidate is also still in the tourney). But I seriously doubt anyone on either side has made an official offer or acceptance of such.

It is possible that Buzz's rep has said to OU that Buzz would consider coming to OU for roughly X amount of money, and it's possible that OU has said that they might be willing to pay that amount of money, but I would be shocked if there's been anything more specific than that.

The only problem is that Buzz doesn't have an agent- or at least he's said he doesn't. Unless Joe C and Buzz agreed to go through some other 3rd party, they would have had to talk directly.

I hope it's Buzz, though.

We'll never get Buzz or anyone else worthy of mention, we should just hire Sean Sutton and get it over with. OMG OU basketball is dead blah blah blah blah

To be serious, you've got to think that if Joe C knew he was going to let Capel go or thought it was a strong possibility he would've been working on the coaching search for awhile now. So yes it is possibility that a deal is already done or done in principle with someone and they're just waiting to be able to announce it.

This is my guess, too.

His wife????:woot

Buzz may not have an "agent" but I guarantee he has an attorney. A 3rd party could be working on this.
