Aaliyah Chavez is a Sooner!!

Hopefully the fact Texas is about to make the national title game doesn't cause them, and her, to rethink.

That, combined with OU getting ripped a new one by UCONN, could cause anyone to rethink things.

I doubt that has any effect on her recruitment at all.

She wants to play in a system like what Jennie runs. She is going to be the face of the Jordan brand for women's college basketball. OU just made it farther than they have in the last decade and return quite a bit of talent, bringing in more talent with Chavez in the recruiting class, and will be a big destination for transfers to come play with her as the point guard.

She’s not going to Texas. If she wanted to go to Texas she would have committed there instead of Oklahoma. The style of play just doesn’t fit Aaliyah which is why she picked Oklahoma. Also she is getting a crazy NIL deal with Oklahoma with the Jordan brand so yea I don’t see her switching her commitment.

The style of play is interesting. It led to OU trailing 40-42 in the second half to getting blown out by 30 at one point. I don't see one player, as good as Chavez is, making up that difference. Hopefully a couple top transfers join the party. OU needs an athleticism bypass, in a big, big way.

Having a Point Guard that can shoot like Aaliyah does and pass like Aaliyah definitely makes a Big difference… I can tell you have no clue how Basketball works. And if you do then please do your homework on Aaliyah and her game. If Aaliyah doesn’t have a decision to pass she is more and likely going to create her own shot which she is good at. She can shoot very well from the midrange and behind the arch. And she can draw contact to get a foul call. Sure she isn’t going to be perfect, she’s going to make mistakes and thats ok. You learn and get better on the next play.

Also. The double team that Raegan Beers received a lot this season isn’t going to work next season with the way Aaliyah and Payton shoots the ball.. Pick your poison on if you are on the defensive side vs Oklahoma. And I can only imagine Sahara is going to be much better as well. With whoever else steps in other spot I can imagine is going to be pretty good as well. This team can be very good, With a FR pg leading the way for Oklahoma next year.
Im hoping we get a couple of Good splashes in the Portal, also would love another BIG. The other two freshmen Brooklyn and Keziah can ball too I do expect to see them get a quite a bit of playing time next year.

Next years Team will look different without Skylar but probably better and more athletic for sure.

I would LOVE if Oklahoma can average 15 or less turnovers a game next season. So I hope they can do that🤞🏽 Because this year we averaged almost 21 Turnovers a game.

Excited for next season, should be a fun season in 2025-26 ‼️

i mean how uconn won the game challenges your point they had the best player who had 40 ..

chavez upside is the best player in the sport ..

Just go post this stuff elsewhere please. Enough we all get it
Literally… Its annoying as hell.

Oklahoma isn’t athletic enough, Oklahoma and Jennie can’t recruit, Oklahoma is just a burning program to that account is what I basically get the vibes of…

Lets not ignore the fact teams LESS athletic then Oklahoma has done just fine against USC, South Carolina and UCLA.

Also multiple people on here always bringing up how more athletic a team is then Oklahoma which is interesting. I personally think OU matches up with anyone in the country just fine. The only downside to OU is the high rate they turn the ball over is why they lose the games they lose.

Iowa has beat USC almost beat UCLA, and beat some supposedly “More athletic” teams then them.
When yall say “We just aren’t athletic enough, what do yall mean by that” ?? Because clearly our issue has been Turnovers since the start of the season and now all of the sudden we aren’t athletic enough?? Lol.

Respectfully Oklahoma was more then athletic enough. Their Athleticism has nothing to do with them losing the games they loss.

Teams they should have beat but didn’t because of Turnovers:

Duke
Texas
Mississippi State
LSU

And should have been a different game vs South Carolina the 2nd time but ONCE again Turnovers was the issue…

Then of course UConn. Turnovers was the issue and loss.

Story of the season was “Turnovers at a HIGH rate”

I think not having a player that can at least keep up defensively with players like Bueckers (although almost impossible) and score consistently against top level defenders would have helped us immensely. Going up against UConn IMO exposed that we just weren't a complete team this year, but there's definitely hope for next season knowing we have 2 good freshman scoring guards coming in, and if Chavez doesn't make an immediate impact I'll be shocked! I've read so many publications saying she's a 'generational talent' and has been compared to Juju and Paige so with that being considered I think adding her to Beers, Verhulst, Williams and Z. Vann we could be in the picture next year! I also believe JB will bring in a transfer or two to help out.
