What does Aaryn need to improve upon to make All-American next year?

Do you think she will make first team AA?

Aaryn is a high volume shooter (15.5 FG attempts per game) that shot better than 40% last season. As her stats show, she contributes in every way possible, although it would help if she cut down on turnovers as a senior.

For Aaryn to make 1st team All-American, I believe she will have to be the best player on a Top-10 rated team. Like it or not, team results go a long way in determining individual awards. There are many very good guards around the country, so being on a Top-10 team helps a player stand out among the crowd. Otherwise, Aaryn may have to average 25 ppg to seriously challenge for a spot on the first team.

Aaryn is a wonderful player, and yes, I think she has a legitimate chance to make 1st team All-American. She will need help from her teammates to do it.

Also, pray for an injury-free season for the Sooners.

She has to get a lot tougher and menacing on defense. She has to be in the other guards face, not get picked off on the screen too much and learn to stay face-tight on her match up.

The latter she doesn't do well, however that could be because of the kined of defense Sherri wants the team to play. In fact, as I look at what I wrote, a lot of her shortcomings could be because of the style of defense Sherri puts out.

assist to turnover ratio if Aaryn can work on that she could get drafted in the 1st round if the WNBA draft next year. I would also like to see her get others involved next year, she was a point guard coming out of high school.

I would say defense and ball handling are the two things which I think she needs to work on. If she can improve in those areas, I think she might have a shot at AA.

I think she can and will be third-team AA, but I don't see her being first team, because I don't see OU being good enough for her to be. I agree with SoonerTraveler that OU needs to be in the Top 10 for her to get first-team AA. More importantly, I think Aaryn is just "good" at everything else than shooting. Looking at the current AAs, they all seem to do a bit of everything. That will have to be the case for Aaryn as well.

Good points. Play better defense too.

Aaryn a good little player, but not an All American by any means

I have to disagree if we didn’t have her and Jo this year we wouldn't have made it as far as we did. I think she has a good a chance as any to be big 12 player of the year hasn't she been All big 12 for some time now? If OU can win the big 12 next year witch we really should have a chance to do then I say it’s her or Sims... Unless a team comes out of the blue like Nebraska did a few years back?

She needs to quit the going 2-15 before she catches fire. We can't hope that she gets it going while she tries to shoot her way out of it.

Stop the turnovers, stop the turnovers, stop the turnovers. About the same time it took to type this is about how long it takes her to turn the ball over several times.

I think Manning and Carter can be big keys in fixing this Problem.

I don't know. I do know that sometimes it seemed like getting her on track was our only hope. There were too many times where as soon as she got close enough it was going up. Maybe having other options will take some pressure off of her.

Aaryn is best when operating in a flow. What can generate that flow? I have high hopes that between Gioya, Maddie, and Derica that we have someone who can make something happen. If we have someone who can drive and dish or who can hit from ten to fifteen feet on a pullup, it will free Aaryn to operate in a flow rather than try to create that flow herself.

Aaryn is very reliable most of the time and I can't count how many games she saved our bacon. But, as with any other shooter, sometimes it takes a while for her to find the range and sometimes she kept shooting with little success. As someone else said, we relied on her heavily and when she struggled, it was hard to find anyone else who could take up the scoring slack.

As I said, most shooters are like that. That is the reason you can not have too many shooters on the team. We are limited on who can get to the rim regularly. Sharane is pretty good and Morgan can but it depends on who is guarding each one. If you can drive and you can't shoot from distance, you're in trouble. Hopefully, this fall we won't have those issues as bad; although, we have all seen times when no one could shoot and we go through dreadful scoring droughts.

Morgan used to be able to do that. She drives a lot, but she doesn't pull up and shoot as much as she used to. I think she should.

Sharane seems to have a lot of that in her. I too hope Maddie, Wyatt and Carter can accomplish that. We need someone else to do it.
