What do you mean?
Saw him on campus yesterday in shoes (no boot) and didn't seem to be favoring his foot. My guess is precautionary...
I have no idea, of course, about Manyang's longterm health. But what I do know is this board always gravitates to the worst-case scenario.
Why not let this play out before we give up on the guy?
He's a juco big man. I don't expect much from him to begin with. His juco numbers weren't that impressive for a 7 footer. I would love for him to become this beast but honestly we have other post players.
"as a freshman and averaged 8.6 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.8 blocks"
as a soph he averaged "9.0 points, 7.1 rebounds and 2.1 blocks"
I don't get why anyone would get over-hyped on this kid with these juco numbers. I highly doubt we see him if what we are hearing about McNease is true. Would expect Cole to get playing time in the post over AK.

I think Cole is a fine young man, a great student and a really good basketball player but it seems silly to say this. Manyang is five inches taller than Cole and probably every bit the athlete that Cole is. He put up solid numbers in Juco on fairly limited minutes. I see no reason to not have higher expectations than a late game reserve player and I mean no disrespect to Cole.
9 points a game is not solid numbers in juco. You talk about AK's height...it didn't help him on the offensive end in juco and their is a huge size difference between div 1 bball and juco bball. If a 7'0 footer doesn't average a double double in juco then what numbers do you expect when he plays against people his own size down low? And I promise you, Cole would have averaged a double double in junior college.
We've had this discussion multiple times and you need to look at his minutes played and who he played with...
Put him on a typical JUCO team and play him 25 to 30 minutes per game and he easily gets your double double and flirts with double digit blocks.
Additionally, lots of really good college post players do not average double doubles in high school. Surely you will concede that Juco ball is a step up from high school ball.
I really don't understand why so many OU fans have a constant need to be negative. I have no clue what Manyang will do but the coaches liked him and gave him a scholarship over Ibaka's younger brother and many other players. I assume there is a reason for that.
Its not like Kruger has done good with the big men juco players he's brought in. Bennett barely saw the floor towards the end of last year. Arent never played. And their were a couple others he recruited and I don't what happened to them. He does better with high school kids and transfers and juco guards.

Manyang hasn't participated enough to know his assignments. Sometimes he is out of position. He hasn't participated enough to be in shape. However, he is an athletic, wide bodied, 7 footer that can run the floor. Those stats don't have anything to do with Jr.College. How ever many minutes they get out him will be quality minutes. The kid can play.
