AK is out again

Meaning what, that AK is hurt again, or that Jamuni may play a bigger role than expected?

AK's injury woes.

As Sooner04 pointed out, there are a string of red flags here that people may be ignoring. Doesn't mean hope is lost at all, but has there been one positive news regarding AK since last January outside him showing up on OU's campus? A lot of it may be out of his control, but the caution lights are certainly flashing.

I'm not the least bit surprised about jamuni's progress. He went from a big no one noticed all that much one season to an important player on a high school team that made it to the state finals his senior year. That should tell us something about his work ethic as well as his potential. I think he will be a star before his career at OU is over.

Agree, Jamuni will be a player at OU IMO. Not a skilled scorer but a pogo stick that is all over the paint. With that said, if he is starting for OU this year, that says more about Lattin/Buford than Jamuni.

No doubt about it, the latest injury could be a signal that there may be more trouble ahead for AK and his foot injuries. Sure hope we're wrong!

I could see them bringing Buford off the bench. Lots to like about that.

Jamuni and lattin both 5's for the most part. Buford is that 3/4.

I'm encouraged by your take on Jamuni in view of where you were when he signed with OU. Looks like we're closer to being on the same page with him now.

While I was excited to learn that he might compete for a starting position this season, that came as a total surprise to me with Lattin and Buford firmly planted (at least in my mind) ahead of him in the rotation. I'm hoping that's because he has progressed faster than anyone thought possible, rather than an indication of where Lattin and Buford are in their development.

Thinking of it as Jumuni and Lattin playing the same position and Spangler and Buford at a different position might be accurate. That wouldn't eliminate the possibility of any two of the four on the floor at the same time. If manyang were healthy and ready to go, it would probably configure differently.

Sit him for a year and put him on the same regimen that women with osteoporosis use.

I'm not certain that Manyang has a redshirt year. He graduated from high school in 2012. He was a freshman at Indian Hills in 2013-14 and a soph in 2014-15. His having a redshirt year I would think is dependent upon what he was doing during the 2012-13 school year. If he was not in school he probably has a redshirt available. If in school he has used his redshirt year.

actually wouldn't matter. Once you start school/athletics, you have a 5 year clock to complete 4 years of athletics. If you take a year off, for whatever reason, your clock keeps ticking.

If he is injured, couldn't he get a medical? If he sat out a year (2012/2013) that wouldn't start his five years. If he went to Indian Hills (or somewhere else) that would start his five years.

I don't know what his playing history is but based on his bio at OU, I would guess he has a redshirt year available.

I noted when I read his bio that Indian Hills is in Ottumwa, Iowa. Isn't that where Radar was from in MASH? (That will date some of us)

True, but the one exception is if you to to a prep school. In that case the clock doesn't start until you graduate from prep school. I think Manyang graduated from HS in Minnesota, and then spent the 2012-2013 year at Potter's House Christian Academy in Jacksonvile, Fla.

It's a good route for kids who have some academic issues (e.g. low test scores or a missing core class). That way they don't have to lock in for 2 years at a juco before going D1.

J- Money is 6'10 and athletic inexperienced but has a decent jump hook and is a kangaroo, has practiced vs B12 starters for over a year

Lattin is 6'9" and athletic, is a shot blocker and rebounder, he has some experience

Spangler is 6'8" skilled, savvy, veteran who knows his way around the paint

Buford is 6'7" and crazy athletic, inexperienced but strong and explosive.

We have had A LOT worse post talent to work with in the past ...

Not good on AK. Hope he can redshirt if it looks like this will drag on. One thought might be trying to get Freeman playing second semester for conference season...

I really hope this doesn't happen.

Not an ideal situation at all if this happens. Only a catastrophic series of injuries would create this scenario, IMO.
