Amath declaring for NBA draft...

I don't think this sets us back much next year. Our success hinges on how high the ceiling is for the 3 freshmen guards. We are thin inside but M'Baye was more of a small forward than post player anyway IMO. Cameron Clark can do those things.

Going to be a LOOOONG year next year. Relying exclusively on freshmen and sophomores, none of whom appear to be elite offensive players. Looks like at least a one year return to the cellar. On the plus side, all of those freshman and sophs should be sticking around, which sets us up potentially for good things in a couple seasons.

Cam isn't close to what Amath is. Unless Heild and JH become 13-15ppg scorers over night we are in a ton of trouble.

He can give it a try in the nba summer leagues and if he doesn't make a roster play in Europe. Makes sense. Who wasn't ready to be out of college and making bucks at 23?

If I had been on fully scholly at a D1 school with one more year left only a lotto pick would have got me to leave. I guess the difference in perspective is from me having little to no athletic ability and having to work in the dishroom of a cafeteria to make my tuition payments.

I don't think the sky is falling. I'll just have to change my focus to rooting for Cam to have that breakout year. Hamilton to be some account. And Kruger picking up a late signee that is good enough to come in and beat some one out.

"My time at OU has been great," said M'Baye, who averaged 10.1 points and 5.2 rebounds this season en route to earning third-team All-Big 12 honors. "I'm 23 years old. My goal when I came to the United States was to take care of business in the classroom and by the time I was 23 to have a degree in my pocket. Now that I'm graduating in May, it's time for me to start taking care of my family the way they've taken care of me for so long."

Who can argue with that?

I am glad to know he is graduating. I wish him luck I guess if he is not going to stay for an advanced degree he might as well try. He has completed his goals so time to set some new ones. The "Graduating" is the key factor here. I wouldn't blame anyone who moves on after that after all that is the point of college.

I was counting on big things from him next year. Disappointing for sure but we turn to someone else and move on. Starting inside position up for grabs. Competition is always a good thing.

The good news, season doesnt start tomorrow. We'll have lots of nights!

I wonder how long the coaching staff has known. He sure isn't going because of any breakout year. Sounds like he's known his plan for quite some time. Hopefully Kruger and the coaches have known for awhile also and have planned for this(i.e. inside track on another good signee).

I know certain naysayers on this board are scoffing at ANY success now, but if you really think about it, look at the numbers. How do we know that Clark couldn't have produced those same numbers in the same amount of minutes? I know it's going to be a hit, but I don't think it's the end of the world. As Stoops would say, I think we can find someone to """""whatever his numbers are. It would be nice to sign another at least competent big in the late signing period for depth purposes... It is a hit, in a lot of ways, but the chicken littles saying we'll be last in the conference, is ridiculous..

We just lost 4 out of our 5 starters and our top reserve, and by most standards...not a very good recruiting class coming in. We are going to be bad. Really Really bad.

We have 3 guards returning that have started multiple games and a 4 who has started many games. Get a hold of yourself.

But, I guess i'm fallen into your trap. Throw stuff out there are watch everyone scream.. Attention whore much?

Certainly not angry over the young man's decision. He has to do what is best for himself and his family. Good luck to him.
Now where does this put OU. We had at least 2 maybe 3 big men who were transfers or redshirting last season plus 1 or 2 bigs coming in. Hoepfully Lon can blend these players in with our young guards and bring home a productive season in 2013-14.
