Another Player For Next Year -- Maybe

Shackelford isn't a very efficient scorer. I don't think he would add a ton to our current roster. If he replaces Johnson, that is a pretty equal swap on talent. If he replaces Issanza, and Shackelford wins minutes, he is likely winning them from somebody that would produce at a similar level (IMO). Russell was similar, but at least shot it a little better from 3.

Truth is, both probably had us on their lists previously, and OU really isn't much of a player down the stretch, but keeping our name on there makes the transferees look a little better. I'd be surprised if we end up with either, but stranger things have happened.

Are we really complaining about the leading scorer on a top 5 team? Do you think we're that loaded next year?

Uh … his effective FG% is north of 50. That is the definition of an effective scorer.

If he chooses a Beard-less Tech over OU I will be heartbroken...

I'm not sure how many spots they have at Tech, but their fans really want Obanor. So does every other fanbase in his top ten though.

They also made Texas State transfer Isiah Small's top 5 - return back to Texas State, Texas Tech, Depaul, Texas A&M, and Texas

I agree, if that tweet is accurate, OU is a better spot than Tech IMO.

This is crazy talk, WT. He and groves would be our best players. He was arguably the best player on a top 5 team in the sec.

All of this is complete nonsense.

i thought we got a little lucky against Bama....they were inconsistent but were a very dangerous, elite team but not always. UCLA team that beat them in OT was really coming on....obviously.

maybe Porter gets on the blower to Lincoln R and has Jalen Hurts give Shackleford a call....

If you have a 247 account, read the thread on the Illini site

https://247sports.com/college/illin...erts-transfer-forward-kevin-obanor-167641310/

If you can't read it, it's talking about these transfers getting projected NIL amounts from opendorse.

For example, apparently Texas Tech's projected NIL amount for Obanor is $300k.

Stuff like this has to be hurting OU? I have to admit, I've mostly ignored the NIL stuff.

lol, don't be a clown.

I'm allowed to have an opinion on Shackelford. I don't think he changes the trajectory of our program. Outside of about 2 games, he numbers weren't very good over Bama's last 15 or so games. Volume scorer. Nearly as many turnovers as assists per game. Starter and leading scorer on a Sweet 16 team looking to transfer out (think about what that likely means).

If the kid was so great, he wouldn't be down to OU, TT, and tOSU (before their recent transfer). He'd have a better list of suitors.

But we'll see.

Effective field goal % was 53% over last 16 games. That’s comparable to Harmon’s numbers … considering how many shots he got up, that’s an impressive number.

Not sure why he’s uninteresting to you…

That is EXACTLY why a DUI is terrible whether he actually hits somebody or not.....because driving that way severely increases the chances of doing just that.

He asked if he hit anyone and the answer is no as far as we know…..

Maybe just letting him go quietly. He could end up with Absmas at ORU and do really well.

this is interesting

I imagine that means hes gone right

I imagine that means hes gone right

Could be.

But there are other current college kids playing in it.

DJ Walter - Oklahoma Christian
Moun'Tae Edmundson Jr. - Oklahoma Christian
Ronald Moore - Southwestern Christian
Cameron Bell - West Texas A&M
Jacquez Yow - Hutch CC

None of those are D1 one guys obviously.

Rondel Walker (OSU) was out there as well, at least coaching.
