Another Transfer

Sucks, because you could definitely see guys looking up to Dante, and the bigs all loved him and each other. Whether it's hanging out, or whatever. Not sure who we'll get in that spot.

He's surely going D2 so he doesn't lose another year.

I don't think it's good when players transfer out. We surely don't want to develop the reputation that players don't want to be here but Dante couldn't have seen much of a role for himself going forward. It's probably best for him.

And from our standpoint, I'm glad it's not James. I was concerned after the season he had, losing his starting spot, and TY poised to take even more playing time from the guards that he might decide to move on.

F. I hate this news. Never good to lose a guy.

Big Buford fan.

Buford may have been liked, but you have major issues if you are looking at him as a leader

We gain nothing badmouthing this kid. He is liked by the players and he would have an impact if he stayed. I am sad to see him go but I hope he finds the PT and situation he wants.

It's funny I posted two weeks ago that I could easily see Buford leaving and everyone told me why he wouldn't .

Agreed, it's not great to lose a guy the staff has worked hard to train. That's a lot practice man-hours walking out the door. But it's not like Dante is the only "cool" hoops player around. LK recruits high character guys who seem pretty simpatico. Chances are the player filling Dante's slot will be well-liked too. If LK has had a heart-to-heart with Dante and told him he's looking at diminished PT then there is a situation there. Kruger just doesn't seem like the kind of person who would do that lightly. Wasn't Dante suspended for several games at the beginning of last season? It didn't seem like he ever really got on track. Maybe he just never got out of the doghouse.

If you fill his spot with a more productive player then team morale will be just fine. It's not great to lose a guy but with the right replacement there can be a big silver lining.

He missed multiple games while at ou for issues ,so it's not like he's the ultimate team player .
I thank him for his time but honestly we need a massive talent upgrade and more so a mssive leadership upgrade.
hopefully Both parties should benefit from this .

They come to us as kids, children, and their parents trusted our coaches to take care of them. How they are treated both coming here and leaving reflects upon this program ... so an un-classy parting shot is totally unnecessary and, in fact, counter-productive.

Good window into a major problem the team had last year. Buford may have been liked, but you have major issues if you are looking at him as a leader

why is that? He always played hard when he got a chance...unless you are in the locker room and around these kids, how can you say that?

I liked Dante and had high hopes for him this past year. However, he didn't seem to improve from the previous year -- he was the exact same player. The other 2nd year guys were improved (though James wasn't as good a shooter but he was still scoring especially later in the season). Dante entered some games and had a big impact (@osu) but in other games he did nothing and was taken out. So, no consistency and little improvement. I hope for his sake this is a good move and I wish him the best as well as appreciate his contribution. He seems like a good kid. I wonder if he will transfer to South Carolina and play for Frank Martin since that's closer to home for him.

Missed the first three games due to NCAA rules I believe and then missed another game due to being late for practice. Again, if that is the sole leader of the team, explains a little about how the season unfolded.

I don't want to see him go but I trust Lon so I'm not worried.

Big enough issues to miss multiple games for a very easy going head coach in Kruger . A hard ass coach like Kelvin might have strangled him .

Dante was reported to have issues with his back. If you have evidence he was faking it or someone was lying about why he was in street clothes, kindly make a real case to prove your point or lay off of this kid! Like most young men his age, he may not be perfect. But to my knowledge he has never done anything to deserve your scorn. He is reportedly leaving OU. How about wishing him well with the rest of us and stop looking for ways to prove how right you are!

He didn't miss games for injuries alone while at ou ,simple as that .

Probably shouldn't hold your breath, Ada.
