Another Transfer

He didn't miss games for injuries alone while at ou ,simple as that .

At least get your facts straight if you want to knock the kid. Lon suspended him one game in the middle of the season because he had, in Lon's words, issues with his alarm clock. The three games he missed at the start of the season were due to an NCAA suspension for selling his NCAA tourney tickets last year.

Like Ada said, if you have evidence to suggest that Kruger suspended him for any other reasons, feel free to share it. If you don't want to share your sources, or are just relying on rumors/hunches, it would be more responsible not to present that as fact.

While Dante's career at OU did not turn out as well as anyone would have preferred, I hope he does well for himself wherever he lands, assuming he does decide to transfer.

You literally just showed us 4 games that he missed for punishment ( nothing to do with injuries ) and I'm the one who do doesnt have his facts straight ??

He missed games for a complete BS NCAA rule. Trying to use it to indict his character is outrageous.

Buford was a guy who I was pretty excited about when he signed. He had incredible athleticism, scoring ability, and was highly regarded. If I remember correctly OU beat out the likes of South Carolina, Miami, and Southern Cal for his signing.

Once he got here his game appeared to hover between a 3 and stretch 4. He had an 8 or 9 rebound game in his first official game against Memphis on the road. Then later he started nailing 3s and I thought to myself, what a package of skills. But as time progressed, he never really rebounded that well at all for his size and jumping ability, and kind of turned into a one trick pony(3 pointers). And his lateral quickness wasn't good. So, he never really fit either one.

Anyway, hope he finds a place that makes him happy and he can enjoy playing. And a place where his game can flourish. If he goes somewhere and blows up i'll be happy for him but wonder "what if" had he stayed at OU. Too bad he had to redshirt, so he can't have two years of D1. Good luck to you Dante!

All that being said, I hope Lon fills his scholly with someone better, obviously..

Check your initial post where you clearly implied that he missed multiple games based on actions Lon took. Hence your comment on what would have happened if he played for Kelvin. Last I checked, Lon isn't part of the NCAA enforcement staff.

You're wasting your time WichitaSooner. Sooner1234 is a troll who gets his kicks out of stirring the pot. Every post he has made the past few months has been designed to get people riled up.

I have no idea why he felt compelled to bash a kid like Dante? I do know I asked him twice to move on and he ignored my request. A third will not be necessary, if you get my drift. ;)

Doesn't every kid know this rule????

And if every kid does and then chooses to ignore the rule, that does say plenty about his character....and anyone who defends him.

JMO

And I'm hoping for the best for Dante. Like another poster, I think his game became one dimensional.

So...

"And if every Driver knows the speed limit and then chooses to ignore the speed limit, that does say plenty about his character....and anyone who defends him."

Right?

He either forgot the rule about selling the tickets or, more likely, didn't think he'd get caught. For a college student who probably has little to no money, the appeal of selling those Final 4 tickets has to be strong. It's a violation but hardly a huge indictment of his character. The notion that it meant that Buford had a bad attitude or wasn't a team player, or whatever else has been implied is absurd. He broke a rule and was punished...move on. It doesn't mean that he was a headache to Kruger, the team or the rest of the coaching staff nor did he poorly represent the university.

I wish him the best and hope he finds whatever he's looking for. I know in those commercials he's done for the Big 12 he said that he was the 1st in his family to go to college. That's outstanding. I hope he's able to finish his degree .

Right?

I would just go with every player in 2014, including Buddy's Hield, clearly has a poor character because they accepted cash from Yo Yo before a walk on told and they had to give it back.

Yep, Buddy Hield clearly has a poor character....

Do you guys think that we will try to take two grad transfers/Juco's?
With Lattin being the only senior, I could see Lon hanging on to one scholarship so he can bring in two players next year.

Does this open up any playing time for Manek at all? I know they would prefer to redshirt and improve his bulk. Say James continues his slump and Manek's all-around game turns out to be better than Freeman's - then doesn't Manek make it into a nine-man rotation (assuming we get the Rice guy)?

But I'm guessing Buford's departure means LK has a track on a transfer forward. That would redshirt Manek for sure.

I think it may depend on the player(s) available. If we take two grad transfers (a wing and a big for example) that would not have an effect on next year's scholarships. While the Hutch juco recruit, Juiston, is an intriguing prospect, I would rather see us fill the available ships this season with graduate transfers who are capable of contributing right away. That would also leave the door open to fill our needs in next year's recruiting class.

That said, I think we almost have to sign at least one grad transfer in the current period to add some depth to our roster. My choice would be Egor Koulechov because he can rebound as well as score from the perimeter.
