The Big 12 officially reprimanded Austin Reaves for his actions after the TCU game-winning shot. I’m not sure if there will be further consequences.

I don't know but he's pretty lucky he didn't draw a suspension since they stated that he violated the league's sportsmanship rule.

It’s pointless to reprimand somebody if you’re not going to do anything. He definitely doesn’t deserve a suspension for saying “it’s over” to the camera after hitting a game winner.

I agree with that, though I'd just as soon he'd stayed by the Sooners bench to celebrate and skipped using hand gestures that could be misconstrued. I generally prefer classier behavior by our guys.

No were irritated it was ever a situation. And annoyed that the ncaa/big 12 cares about stupid crap and gets it so wrong.. it wasn't a throat slash clearly... but we all knew it could be construed..

This thread, read as a stand-alone (as I said, I missed any other discussion of this that may have occurred here), could easily be taken as people complaining that the Big 12 took it too easy on Reaves, which surprised me. I get it now that people were being sarcastic. So thanks for the clarification.

Reaves was definitely doing a Vince Carter impression and not the throat slash but I agree with Sky that he should have been more classy. I think the Big 12 is being too cute by half.

The Big 12 and Austin Reaves disagree with you. The Big 12 reprimanded him so they obviously think it's an issue and Reaves apologized for it so he obviously things it's an issue. And since the Big 12 thinks it's an issue Reaves is lucky they only reprimanded him.

What are you talking about? He apologized, in this reality, not through a wormhole into a different dimension.
