OU @ WVU 7pm CST on ESPN2

I think some of you have never seen a West Virginia home game before. The most surprising thing about this game was how many free throws we got to shoot.

I think Cortes will be a good one when he matures a bit. However, he rarely shoots the ball outside of 5 feet. He needs more confidence and to develop his 3 point shooting. He can drive but he’s gonna need to make 3s to loosen up the defense and keep them honest.

He can shoot. Confidence in big 12 basketball!

I will trust my eyes and 40 years of watching basketball. They’re bad.

Kenpom Rankings of Big 12 teams (updated tonight):
Baylor - 2
KU- 9
Tech - 13
Texas - 15
OU - 30
ISU - 32
OSU - 48
WV- 53
KSU - 58
TCU - 64

This is a historically damn tough league this year. You can look at any other major conference and you have at least a couple of gimmes. We don't have that luxury. KSU is a team that is good enough to make a run in the NIT....seriously.

That was a must needed road win. End the losing streak. We needed that. We need 5-6 more wins from somewhere.

Hold serve at home and hope you are actually the 7 seed this year in Big 12 tourney?

19-13 should get an 11 seed.....

OU looks like an NIT team at best this year.

Clown post. We have almost won every game this year with the exception of @ texas. Also have had 1 of the ten or so toughest schedules so far.

If we don't get wins over some of the teams above us we aren't getting in the NCAA. Just too few major wins with Florida and Arkansas faltering. Utah State just ended a 4 game losing skid in conference. They have 9 losses overall. That looks like a bad loss. Butler is 10-10 on the year and also just had a 4 game skid. UCF is at .500 in their conference that is probably our next best win outside of ISU/Arkansas this year.

Look I want OU to make the big dance as well, Hopefully we can get on a roll now. The way I see it if OU makes the tournament it's pure gravy all things considered. I just hope the Utah State and Butler games don't bite us when it comes to the selection committee.

Solid win. Team seems to be evolving. Jacob Groves is starting to round into form and find his role on the team. If Johnson is locked in and over his off-the-court stuff, he could be a weapon going forward. Tanner Groves looked more energized than I've seen him in a couple of weeks.

Need to continue getting the right guys the right shots. This team will go as they go on offense. The defense has been there most nights. But we can't score in the 50's and expect to win. Goal should be AT LEAST 65 each night. Push in transition to make up for our lackluster halfcourt offense. Johnson helps with this.

Geez, do we have some of the worst ball handling pg's in the country? They couldn't even dribble the ball up the court against one man pressure last night. That isn't good, and it's one reason I'm not overly bullish on Cortes.

I slept on this and I think I was a little too critical. It was a great road win in the Big 12. Those don’t come easy. The Groves brothers were fantastic.

My concerns are point guard play and Harkless.

if OU only gets wins vs the teams behind them

they are a mortal lock for the dance ...

if OU wins 5 more games they are very close to a lock for the dance ..

And now the rest of the story, please.

There is no rest of the story. Moser said before the game that he was starting Jacob in his place. When Harkless came in a few minutes into the game, he got two quick fouls. Jacob played great, then Johnson came in and played very well. Porter was playing the guys who gave us the best chance to win. Why bring Harkless back against a defense that thrives on creating turnovers?

I’d say they ARE a lock with five more wins. That would either mean 8-10 in the conference, or 7-11 with a road win over Auburn.

I’m still high on Cortes, but he’s got to get it through his young, immature head that he’s not in high school anymore. He’s too careless with the ball in traffic and when he’s closely guarded. Porter used the quick hook on him after a turnover in the last game, and I’m betting he would have used it again if Goldwire had not been in foul trouble.

I also continue to hope he will take shots when he’s open. He averaged 51% from three his senior year in high school. Here’s a link to an article in the Oklahoman that proves what I have said about his ability to make shots. Note the number of shots he made from behind the arc:

No sh!t?

Listen, I'm not picking on you. When we don't blow the doors off our opponent by midway through the first half (and that never happens in this conference), 90 percent of this board goes into meltdown mode.

You were absolutely right when you stated that road wins don't come easy in the Big 12. Overall, our players performed well against WVU, and the double-digit win is proof. A road win over any team in the Big 12 should always be cause for celebration. Some of you need to lighten up and temper your expectations just a tad.
