Totally agree! Who was that guy?
I didn't see it.
That said, Marvin Gaye's version of the anthem at the NBA all-star game about 30 years ago was one of the best I've heard, and it definitely wasn't traditional (nor was Jimi Hendrix', another iconic rendition).
It's a song that in the right hands can become something truly amazing. Just because a select few can pull it off doesn't mean everyone else should try, though.
Safe to assume you don't go to many OU football games?Anthem. Sing it the way it is supposed to be sung. I could barely tell what it was. Just sayin but I HATE it when singers do that crap!!!!!!!!!!!!

Time to ditch that tune all together and come up with something modern and relevant.
no, it's time to treat the national anthem with the reverence it deserves and realize that it is a privilege to be chosen to sing it...they are doing you a favor in choosing you, not vice versa.
Sing it. Sing it as written. Sing it out of respect for your country.
Don't know if I need to clarify, but I wasn't referring to the ones with the microphone.Yep I go to a bunch - most of the time they "try" and do it normal, LOL
