Been a rumor floating around that the AD may try a nonconference game at the fieldhouse next next year.

Of course I'd love to see the roof get raised in there ala GIA thus creating a real basketball arena on campus but this would be a great start to have a game in there.

Thoughts?

I don't mind playing a game or two in there. I have no desire to try and turn it into our home court though. I may be in the minority, but I have very few problems with LNC as it currently stands.

+1

I would love to see the non conference games against lowly opponents played there, but big games and conference games played at the LNC. Its embarrassing when only 4-5k fans show up for the lesser games.

Yep.

said for years...McCasland fieldhouse is the ultimate best solution for OU basketball.

I think this is a good idea.

can someone explain what the difference is between the two places? I'm from and live in D.C, Maryland and Virginia (DMV) area so I know nothing about these places.

Great idea. I've been saying this for years. Play the Coppin State's and East Popcorn State's at the fieldhouse. It would actually be a good basketball crowd in a small gym vs. a half empty big arena for those games. Also, you could try to come a little early and hang out on campus corner and walk to the game from there.

The problem with playing in a smaller gym is that even though there might not be a large crowd at some of those games (Coppin State) when played at LNC, the tickets are still sold. I don't know how many seats McCasland FH has, but I'd guess that we may have more season tickets sold then seats in that bldg. How you deal with that isn't an easy problem, unless you simply exclude 1 or 2 games from any season ticket package. And even that doesn't sound like a good idea.

This is the best news I've heard since Whataburger brought back the Chop House Cheddar Burger.

Pick one of those dreadful November/December games and put it in the Fieldhouse. Do not include it in the season ticket package. Make the place completely GA, $5 bucks at the door. Maybe $10.

I sure hope they do it. It would be a blast. Campus Corner merchants would definitely see an uptick in sales. The Mont would sell Swirls like there's no tomorrow.

^^ what 04 said above.

AWESOME

it would be "rather energetic"

I honestly believe if they did this a few times everyone would fall in love with it.

sweet! hope it's true.

atleast the field house has crimson seats instead of orange...

I've always contended that the osu, texas, kansas, and any big non-con game should be played in the LNC, while the rest should be played in the Field House.

You then offer 2 season ticket packages....

HARDCORE FAN package includes a season ticket for all games in the Field House and LNC...

DABBLER FAN package only includes the tickets for the games at the LNC, since that's really the only games they want anyway...

And if there is a point at which there is more demand than seats for the hardcore fan package, then the ticket office should use the LOYALTY points on the season ticket holder's account instead of the PRIORITY points to determine qualification for having that season ticket package. Maybe the initial allotment is based on season ticket holder's current attendance rate. Then priority points determines if you are picked off of the "waiting list" but if your attendance is below a %70-%80 rate for any year, then you are automatically migrated to the DABBLER FAN package and someone else off the "waiting list" is picked for that spot.

There is no way they are going to play more than 1-3 games over there. We'd lose too much money. I think some of you don't realize just HOW MANY dollars would be flushed down the toilet with such a move.

There is nothing magical about the old field house. OU's positive basketball tradition was built at LNC.

There is no parking. Restrooms and consession facilities are meager. If they were to draw 5000, the place is cramped and uncomfrontable. The same for players locker and shower facilities. What about accomodations for the media and broadcast crews?

The program outgrew that facility. Now, if Kruger thinks that going over there for a game or two would help gin up alittle interest from the students, that's fine.

This is a different era and circumstance than the good ole days. But, one thing hasn't changed. Winning will cure most of what ails the program. Hokey promotions and gimmicks are never a viable long term solution.

Now that is something we can agree on.

OU is probably never going to have Duke-like fans for basketball. But when the program is going well, and we're winning ball games, the crowds we get for most games is pretty good. Meaning, we pack the house against the rivals, and top Big 12 foes, and we have enough people there against the mediocre competition.

Just win baby!

no reason to play at the fieldhouse ... the LNC can get very loud and is on campus
