Baylor- Texas

Texas has the ball with 14 left, trailing by two.. This is getting very interesting.

I think Gioya has to score AND that we HAVE to rebound and hit under the basket. Cannot miss the chippies. I don't think it is really that relevant what happened preseason with Kentucky. If I were betting money on the game, I would put my money on Baylor, especially at Baylor. However, I have no desire to bet against OU. How will Gioya, Sharane, Kay-Kay, Maddie, Vivi, Derica, LaNecia, Nicole and Treece play? We need everyone to step up. Gabbi and Peyton have been pretty steady the last few games and need to remain so. We need to neutralize Nina Davis or, at the least, slow her down because I doubt that we can neutralize her. Gioya, Sharane and Kay-Kay have been leading us in rebounding but they have to do better, as well as, the rest of the team. We will need to play the best basketball that we can to beat them.

I think we are just as good as them. If we match there toughness, it will be a close game. We don't have to have everyone playing our their minds, they are not Uconn.

70 -68 Baylor final... Texas should be really good next year, if they can not get bogged down with nagging injuries and big injuries

Game over, Brook McCarty took a shot with one second left and missed. (bad game planning).

BU 70 UT 68

They are mere mortals after all.

They may not be Uconn but we aren't a top ten team, in my mind. We are young and do not do some of the little things well. I think we have to be playing our top ball, like we needed to do to beat Texas at Texas...but we didn't.

We have also been beat by W. Va. and KSU played us close in Norman. I just don't think our odds are very good. Whatever happens, I hope we play better than we ever have and continue to build upon that. I like our team and really enjoy watching them, so am not unhappy with them...just being realistic, in my mind. We have in past years...4 or 5 years ago and back, beaten Baylor when they were the better team. It was like we had their number, similar to years that OU football beating OSU when OU was the better team. BUT it has been awhile since we have done that....mostly because we were not close to as good a team as Baylor. They have good recruits coming in next year but I have high hopes for our team next year.

I just think we have to emphasize defense more, getting the chippies and being better at free throw shooting....especially our bigs. Whatever happens, I think the rest of this year and next will be fun....AND I will be pulling for OU against Baylor.

We were by far and away the better team against Texas, at Texas. We played down to them, we let them hang around and they beat us in the end because we had 4 players fouled out. We were the better team there. KSU, is very good at slowing you down and making it close, when it come time to cash the check they don't have it. WVU some players were sick and it was a long road trip coming off a loss- I also don't think we could play a worse game. We have every bit the talent that Baylor does, we have to match their toughness and this game with come down to the wire. If we can't match their toughness however, and we play soft, they will beat us up.

Lang was outstanding today.

I think Lang is really, really good. Believe she had an injury that hurt her play at the beginning of conference. And she is only a sophomore. She will probably play in the W along with McGee-Stafford. Stafford's size will get her there. Ariel Atkins will probably play in the W.

For ou, I see Gabbi, Vivi, and Gioya though would not rule out Campbell.
Playing the four hurts her chances because she would not play the four in the WNBA but, if given a chance and she really wanted to, I think she could be a bench player. Also, would not rule out Kay-Kay but I think she needs to get some outside coaching over this summer if she wants to play in the WNBA. She would really have to make a committed effort. She has so many tools but then she just doesn't seem to have taken her game to the level which she seems to be capable

If we actually do what we can do, we can win. Gioya can be the best scorer on the court. Peyton can be the person who takes advantage of the loose balls that will result from a defensive struggle. Maddie could be the one who drives against a pressure defense. Kay Kay could put Agbuke and Davis in foul trouble. But, we have to do what we can do, now have off games from anyone.

But, then, Baylor has a bit of the same problem. They aren't dominant this year. They just win when they should.

I don't agree with any of the above but that is okay. We aren't all supposed to have the same opinions. I may be wrong on part or all. I just like to discuss what I see and think. So thanks for talking with me.

I wouldn't leave out Manning of Professional Basketball talk.

Exactly how I feel. The team that executes better will win.

Well, I think they should have beaten Kentucky but it was early in the season. The point is they win. Kay Kay getting Agbuke and Davis in foul trouble is not something that I see happening. She got Brianna Lewis in fould trouble who is a sophmore and not the player that the two Texas players are.

I do not mean to sound so negative. I want ou to win. I will be pulling for ou to win. I am just not optimistic like some of you. HOWEVER, I WANT to be wrong. Mostly I want OU to put together their best game. I want to see what that looks like. I don't think we have done it yet, though we have played well in some big games.

OKAY, I will stop now because I am outnumbered and do not want to continue repeating myself. That has to be boring for all of us. Can harldy wait for the game Wed. I am going to have to go to OKC to watch the game...unless, does anyone know a sports bar that would be playing it? Not really where I would want to watch because I like to talk to the players during the game, comment....get excited....not something I want to do at a bar.

At this point, I have yet to see the excitement about Atkins. I don't think she is anywhere near as good as Plum, and I'm not sure that Plum is pro caliber. She is sensational in college. Is she athletic enough for pro? I have no idea.

Atkins is a shooter on a team that needs shooters. Is she better than Battle, Moody, Bria Holmes, or Veja Hamilton? Is she the all-around threat that Gioya appears to be?

Maddie may be the best pro prospect in the Big Twelve. You don't find 6-2 guards that can drive, handle the ball, and shoot very often. She leads OU in blocks during the conference games? Really? As a part-time guard?

If Texas had the athletes some of you think they had, they wouldn't be 4-7. They lost the only legitimate WNBA prospect that they had that is firmly established as anything other than potential---Enempkali. Player-for-player, I think OU has better tools at every position. Right now, this is a two-team conference.
