Baylor- Texas

Davis gets a lot of points that you don't notice. They are simple putbacks. Nothing flashy. She just gets position and puts back shots from the weakside. I love players like that. I see Peyton as one of those, the garbage collectors. At the end of the game, they seem to have scored most of the points instead of the flashy shooters.

No I agree. I just don't know how a 5'10 post transitions to the WNBA, like what can she do against Candace Parker? The extreme example, but I just don't know what will happen. You know?

I don't think she is a post. I think she'll be a backup forward for a forward for a team that has a dominant center. You just love those boards, and they will get you a job.

But then she has to handle the rock, can she do that at a high level?

Does she have an outside shot at all?-- The obvious questions.

You said backup. I can absolutely agree with that.

Maryland.

If you haven't read the first page of this thread, do you realize how few questions exist for which Maryland might be a possible answer? But, Maryland is a possible #1. I would give a slight edge to Baylor because of conference, and because I have seen the last two Maryland games. They aren't as smooth as they were earlier.

After spending my Army career in Maryland, it is the answer for no question that I would ever ask.

It is interesting that Texas injuries are problems while nobody accepts our injuries, like losing our two best players for three years in Hand and Manning.
OF COURSE, those injuries hurt OU. I can remember it being talked about, maybe not on this board but hey were you here and did you bring it up?

However, right now I am talking about the present. I do think Texas had injuries that affected the team that they were at the beginning of the year. I believe they have more talent than OU. Just an opinion. Oh, and how many freshman make National Freshman of the Week. Atkins did. I don't see that praising players on other teams is a negative towards players on our team.

We have a reasonable chance to win in Waco. If we do, it's likely that the game in
Norman will be for the conference championship.

That's only part of the task. We coiuld play Baylor in the conference tournament championship game, and even a fourth time in the NCAA tourney.

It's happened before.

I could see Gioya get a shot if she becomes consistent. When she is on, she can score from outside and she can drive. She is also a good defender and passer.

I just don't see any of our posts with the skills to get there. It was hard for Courtney to make a roster and she was waaaay better than anyone we have.

Gabbi could get some interest if she keeps improving but that's certainly not a given.

I don't think anyone else is close to that caliber.

And Nicole was one of the top prospects out of high school, as well as Jeffcoat. Jeffcoat finally transferred and Nicole is not going to be a starter nor an All-American. Someone who is great in high school is not necessarily great in college and I would say the same is true for college to the WNBA.
The thing is though Vivi and Kay Kay may not have the skills yet, I think they can develop them and they are quicker, more mobile and can jump higher than Courtney. The question is will they develop their games over the next one and a half years for Kay Kay and 3 and 1/2 for Vivi. Vivi is taller and has only been playing 4 years, she is returning from an acl AND did she ever play aau ball? I think she could become a tremendous talent if that is what she desires. I do think Kay Kay could play in the W if she worked harder at her game and learned. That was/is why Courtney has had such difficulty in the W. She really did not improve much over her four years at OU. She lacked some skills going into the WNBA, she was slow and out-of-shape. The last two are still problems but she said her overseas coach prior to the 2014 season taught her some things that have helped her game. Anyway, what Courtney did was fine for playing in the The Big 12 but not for playing in the WNBA. Many people at the WNBA board that I follow did not think Courtney would do well. If I remember correctly, it was because of her conditioning. I think her self-confidence took a beating when she first started in the W but that now she is feeling better. I have always been a big CP3 supporter and wanted her to make it but understood why she did not. ALOT of players who were not first team all=americans in college, like Courtney was, have made it.

I haven't researched this but I doubt there are more than 5-10 centers drafted in any given year. If true, that reduces a players chances of playing in the WNBA significantly.

I don't think we will win in Waco, because besides us having to bring a PERFECT game, we will have to play against Kim AND the refs..... We have a better chance of beating them in Norman. But I wish OUr girls good luck and hope for a win.....Bring all you got, and git 'er done!!!!!

Davis will get a look because the year she comes out the draft isn't deep... She's undersized but does have a lot of heart, it will do her some good if she could play at the 3 the next 2 years... With Brown and Mompremier coming in next year, maybe that will happen.... Carter if she get more consistent will defiantly get drafted, she should be All Big12 this year that will help the nation take note of who she is.

I saw a statement by a WNBA official that this was the worst draft in years. No good seniors. when I look at the top seniors in the Big Twelve, I see one really good prospect, Enempkali. Gardner--maybe. Moody, Battle, Knight?

Well, that is my opinion and yes I have read the whole thread. I am just not all that excited about Baylor like everyone else is. I think over all we are a better team. Actually I don't see why there is so much attention about players for the WNBA, I could care less.

You know, Nina Davis is an interesting one. She really seemed to stand around a lot against Texas. Lots of free throws, junk baskets, etc. But not much creating.

I saw her in an earlier game that was a run away and she got most of her points by heading down court as the Baylor shot by a teammate went up - then if it was a miss the ball was thrown down court to her - standing all alone - for an easy layup. She probably got 8 or 10 of her 20 points that way.

Pretty crafty player - but I'm not so sure that kind of thing translates well to the WNBA.

It will be interesting to see if teams are interested in her. I doubt if she makes it but, who knows. I think Amber Battle is a much better prospect to make a roster in the WNBA. Her athleticism is off the charts.
