Best game of Jamuni's young career!

Still would prefer AK. But mcneace played adequately all things considered. He's gonna be a good one when he's older

This game was over the minute he hit that turnaround hook on the baseline. We ain't gonna lose when Jamuni goes Olajuwon.

Lol. :ez-roll:

I think those might be consistent in a few years

I was really worried when he came in the second half and had two bad defensive possessions, but he really settled down and played well. He used his fouls well. Had a some nice shot contests and hit that turnaround. I was really pleased with what I saw.

And his fouls may be an important factor going forward

Oh yeah. If you're a bench big. Using fouls well is an important skill. Every one of his fouls took points off the board for A&M. Those are important plays.

It was easily his best game. He was much more physical and battled inside.

Buford is gonna have to practice some extra post defense, just in case

Lattin & spangs have to be very smart with their fouls and what shots to chase for blocks

He was very active and gave us some good minutes but he just couldn't handle Tyler Davis in the 2nd half. There was a big drop off fro Lattin. He did the best he could and battled, but we're much better defensively with Lattin on the court.

It's almost as if there is a reason Lattin starts. That doesn't change the fact that jamuni had a good game and contributed to the win

might need him to play well again because he is athletic and Oregon will be the most athletic team we have played

The difference with our bench now from earlier in the year is that earlier when we went to the bench our defense broke down and so did the offensive flow leading to bad runs.

Now they seem to be handling their defense pretty well and are more in the offensive flow and occasionally they put up some points.

We got 16 points off the bench tonight which is not a lot, but we also got 50 minutes of solid play. that is huge.

So funny you say that cause that's exactly what I considered "smart fouls" last night. I thought he did a good job of using his minimal playing time to realize he could be extremely physical cause he didn't have to worry about foul trouble.

At the beginning of the 2nd half, Davis scored on consecutive possessions. We subbed McNase for Lattin. McNese didn't let Davis catch the ball while he was in there. Not once. He was battling. I didn't know he had it in him!

Also Oregon's big man Boucher is listed at 6'10" 190#s. McNeece is listed at 6'10" 215#s so he will not take the physical beating he was getting from aTm's Davis. We should be as physically strong if not stronger than the Ducks on the inside.

My impression from attending practice on occasion over the past two seasons is that Jamuni has something you cannot teach .. the desire to be good; the desire to succeed. He shares these traits with the other young players in the practice gym. (Seems to be a trend with Kruger recruits.)

Jamuni has tremendous length and athleticism and also strikes me as being a very intelligent young man, with an optimistic personality. He may still be lacking some basketball savvy that comes with experience, but his upside potential is very high. A smart, determined guy with length, athleticism and a great attitude is a wonderful combination in a college basketball player.

It will be fun and interesting to watch his continuing development, and that is also true for the other underclassmen.
