Aside from Baylor, who I'd assume most agree has the most talent inside this seasons.

Seems like it's a really weak year for interior players.

If Bowers was healthy I'd throw Missouri in there just because of him and Ratliff. For overal play and depth, I think A&M might be second. They got some size at least which is more than you can say about a lot of the conference.

You're looking a few different teams that seem to have one big "star" down low then question marks. KU with Robinson, Mizzou with Ratliff, ISU with White (assuming he lives up the hype), even OSU with Nash since I suspect he'll be playing the 4.

Hmmmm, I would probably go with Iowa State.

Royce White- 6'8'' 240 (pre-season newcomer of the year)
Melvin Ejim - 6'6'' 220 (averaged 10 and 7 as a freshman last year)
Anthony Booker - 6'9'' 250 (transfer from Southern Illinois. Just a defender)
Percy Gibson - 6'9'' 245 (Top rated post player in Michigan)

I would say Mizzou, but Bowers is out for the year isnt he?

Bowers is out for the year. Our post consists of Ratliffe, Moore and Kadeem Green. We'll be forced to go small all season long.

Next year it looks like we'll have plenty of depth (Bowers back, Green, plus a slew of newcomers).

ISU is a good choice. I really like ejim last year and if white is what hes cracked up to be then those two will be a force.

I thought I saw on twitter mizzu had a forward decommit. If so was he anything special?

That would've been Scales. He was by far Mizzou's least heralded recruit. Think Orlando Allen and you've got a good idea what Mizzou was looking at with Scales.

He had two things going for him. First, he was big. Second, he was friends with Rodney Purvis. I don't know if he was told to look elsewhere or if he decided that on his own, but it's doubtful he'll be missed.

Royce White is ridiculously strong. I read that he benched 185 lbs somewhere in the 27-31 rep range. Don't remember the number but that is crazy for a basketball player. Quincy Acy for Baylor has gained a lot of strength and I think his max was 20 times.

I would say on paper Baylor's front line looks good but in reality, they have a bunch of combo forward types and not a true center. You might be able to get away with it on the college level, we will see. Bobo Morgan is likely redshirting and possibly Anthony Jones as well. Even if both redshirt, you have Deuce Bello, Quincy Miller, Perry Jones, Cory Jefferson, and Quincy Acy competing for minutes.

I might say A&M on paper has the #2 frontcourt. Loubeau is skilled. Roberson is going to surprise a lot of people- physical and can move. Ray Turner is a good role player with lots of athleticism. And then you have Khris Middleton who is an all conference type.

I would rank the frontcourts:

1. Baylor
2. A&M
3. OSU- Nash, Cobbins, Olekumi, Jurick

morgan is redshirting? that's interesting, why?

i was just going to mention him with respect to the "withey being the only 5 in the big 12" comment in the osu thread. kstate's henriquez-roberts is a 5 too, if he's anything, but i'm not sure what value there is to segregating bigs into 4s or 5s. if they can play, they can play.

Drew has a theory that big players develop later- and I think he is right about that. Too much of a logjam of minutes in the front court for Baylor this year.

The Bears lose Fred Ellis (forward- probably won't play much); Acy (will play 30 minutes); Anthony Jones (if he doesn't redshirt- senior). They likely lose Perry Jones and maybe Quincy Miller.

So that only returns Cory Jefferson and Deuce Bello in the frontcourt- but Bello is more of a guard/forward. Isaiah Austin is coming in for Baylor but they could clearly benefit from one of their frontcourt players sliding to next year. Drew gives the kids the option. You can play 5-15 minutes this year or likely 20-30 minutes next year- your choice. So we will see who wants to do it.

I think you will see a ton more kids redshirted. Biggest reason: APR. Have to get those kids graduated. Especially a guy like Morgan who transferred from UCLA and was eligible immediately but probably got behind academically due to the transfer.

Mizzouri sucks except for Clarence Gilbert. Face it and leave.
