Big 12 vs Big East

Very cool! And on campus too (I hope)? I always find it disappointing when the non-conference early season matchups aren't on campus.

I love this! And I am still assuming that we are continuing the Big 12/SEC challenge as well?....correct?

Yes, I’m almost sure that when the Big East series was announced last year, tne article said the SEC challenge will continue.

I like this.... We should do it with the Mountain West and American as well. I like the idea of getting mid-majors leagues a setting like this to see how they do against against the P5 leagues. Even if it was a condensed version.

MW vs Big 12
Kansas vs San Diego State
Oklahoma vs. Nevada
Oklahoma State vs New Mexico
Baylor vs Utah State
Texas vs UNLV
West Virginia vs Fresno State
Texas Tech vs. Boise State

American vs Big 12
Kansas vs Cincy
Oklahoma State vs Tulsa
Oklahoma vs Houston
Texas vs Wichita State
West Virginia vs Memphis
Texas Tech vs SMU
Baylor vs Central Florida

Teams like KSU and OSU that usually play soft schedules would probably never agree to this. With two annual games against Big East and SEC teams already on the slate, teams will want to maintain some autonomy over their schedules.

i wonder how they select the match ups. Is it random in nature?

They usually try to match up the teams based on where they finished last year and what is expected of them this year. Also who needs more home games or willing to go on the road.

This grouping doesn't look like it follows what I said though. Kansas State was bad and likely to be bad and they get a very good Butler team.

Looking more closely at it they appear to have put teams that are geographically the closest then put the outliers in games. Creighton and KU are 3 hours at most. Iowa State is 3 or less to DePaul. WVU is close to Georgetown and many others.

I think there are home and home match ups for the 2019 and 2020 seasons between our conference and Big East thus this probably plays in to what some of the pairings are or aren't.

Xavier returns 4 of 5 starters from a team that went 19-13... but the guy they lost was 6'9'' 240 and averaged 14 and 11, so that is a huge loss.

They aren’t huge & don’t shoot great. Have a good PG coming in, which is what they are desperately missing. A much different team than when Chris Mack was there.
