Most likely finishes:

#3 OU sweeps Tech and Kansas
#4 OU beats Kansas, loses to Tech, WV loses to WV and Baylor
#5 OU beats Kansas and loses to Tech (WV beats Texas in Austin)
#6 OU loses both games.

Let's consider what this means. A team that lost two definite starters and a couple of key reserves to injury will finish between #3 and #6 in the top-rated (RealTImeRPI) conference. At present, they have OU at #34.

Let's look at some other teams ranked behind OU:
#35 Syracuse
#40 LSU
#41 Gonzaga
#42 Oklahoma State
#45 West Virginia
#49 Kansas
#52 Georgetown
#55 Miami
#59 Rutgers----what happened here?
#79 Ohio State----really?
#122 USC ---whatever happened to those top ten recruiting classes

Did all these teams lose four players?

If Oklahoma loses both games, Kansas has a good chance of winning against TCU. This would mean OU potentially gets the 7 seed.. OSU and KU would be the likely ties at 9-9. OU would lose the tiebreaker to both those teams, based on record against those teams tied if I am thinking correctly.

Only Baylor, ISU, and Tech have locked up first round byes. KSU, TCU, an Texas are guaranteed a Friday game in the tourney.

Duke was 26-1 and #5 in the nation. They lost one player, Chelsea Gray. Well, they lost at Miami tonight 69-65.

This is the schedule for the Big XII Tournament:

03/08/13 - Friday First Round TV Dallas, Texas TBA
03/09/13 - Saturday Quarterfinal TV Dallas, Texas TBA
03/10/13 - Sunday Semifinal TV Dallas, Texas TBA
03/11/13 - Monday Championship Game TV Dallas, Texas 7:00 p.m. CT

I'm sure the networks dictated the dates, but will the fact that the finals are on a Monday keep some people from attending? Wouldn't Thursday thru Sunday have been better?

I doubt that a Monday game will prevent the Baylor fans from attending (assuming they are in the finals) but it certainly could keep fans from the opposing team from attending, I would think.

Baylor will have the most fans there, and they will likely be in the Championship game. Attendance will not suffer too much. I like this format. The game will be at 7pm and will allow Dallas area fans to get to the game after work. The time may keep opposing fans away more than the day. Nobody wants a long late night trip home before work the next day.

This being the first year the tournament has been separated from the men's tournament, it's going to be an interesting experience. We have our tickets and are staying right next door to the center, so it certainly will be convenient. Expect to be eliminated long before the finals, so how long we stay is up in the air.

I guess I just feel that a tournament that starts in one work week and ends in another work week might discourage people from out of town from attending.

If I lived in the Dallas area, I would like the 7:00 championship game time.

That puts it in sync with the NCAA games, which are Fri-Sun or Sat-Mon.

I hadn't thought about that. I seem to remember a year when we played in the Big XII Tournament on Sunday in Dallas, flew to the west coast on Tuesday and played at 8:00(?) Pacific time on Thursday. We looked like we were wearing cement boots when we played.

According to the website below, the first round games will be played on March 23 and 24th, giving Big XII teams a full week off before the tournament.

Almost 2 weeks off between games. I think most conference tournaments result in a week off, the Big 12 had a rough turnaround.

I hate that certain people always feel the need to look at the perceived under-performance of other teams to make themselves feel better about our team not performing as well, regardless of who we lost early in the season.

Texas lost to OSU in Stillwater by six.

Kansas State beat Tech by six in Manhattan. K-State was 12 of 24 from three.

If we win our last 2 conference games, we get the number 3 seed in the tourney. I am assuming Baylor beats WVU tonight and that should be a pretty safe assumption.

If Oklahoma loses the last two, they could be playing TCU Friday night. Crazy to think the scenarios still in play with just 2 conference games to be played for most teams.

Good luck to everyone.

I live in Arlington and ecstatic that the tournament is 10 mins from my house!! I will be one of those fans that goes to the championship game after work......sic'em!!!!

And based on how OU is playing they could lose both.

At halftime in Fort Worth, TCU leads Iowa State 33-28. It has been pure hustle, and it has kept the Cyclones off balance. They have had no rhythm since taking an early lead.

TCU 61 Iowa State 58

Hustle and disruption. IS never really had a rhythm until about four minutes left. They outscored TCU something like 10-1 over a late run to make it 59-57. Kamy Cole hit two free throws to give TCU the final four point lead. Poppens missed one of two free throws with a second left.
