Big12 MBB Rosters 19-20

Do you have a beacon? This is pretty abstract:

And yet you're here in ten minutes with a snarky reply.

This seems right up abd's alley: in non-Buddy years, what was our preseason ranking from the coaches? And what was our finish?

And Buddy was pretty damn good right out of the gate. I was in Arlington for the UT-A game and Chavano lit them up in the first half. We needed every one of those points, too.

Buddy is my favorite OU player ever. He also wasn't even close to being our best player his freshman year, so for anyone to divide Lon's career into Buddy and non-Buddy years is silly, and this is far from the first time someone has done it. Of course you can anecdotally point to certain games where he played well and helped us win. The same can be said for just about any rotation player on the roster in a given year. We don't beat ND this season without Freeman hitting multiple big threes in the second half when the game had started to slip away from us.

To answer your question purely off memory, we have finished higher than predicted in two of four years without Buddy (2012 and 2019).

I have no idea why you guys are arguing about besides what is painfully obvious - you need talent to win.

Lon has won 1 NCAA Tournament game in 4 year minus Buddy Hield.

Capel won 0 NCAA Tournament games in 3 years minus Blake Griffin.

Sampson won 3 NCAA Tournament games in 8 years minus Hollis Price.

Yes, having good players helps...a LOT.

I'd just wait to see where the coaches pick us, they're usually pretty accurate... unless there's somebody named Hield in the roster.

Am I missing something posted elsewhere? Is Wichita a malfunctioning bot programmed to defend Lon in all circumstances? I genuinely don't have a clue how he got off on the topic he's arguing based on the quoted post.

Thanks for this. I like OSUs roster a lot, that is some lethal shooting.

they def don't have but 1 "big"....they have a lot returning.

tcu looks like a tough team as well...

hopefully someone else besides ku can win league again...keep the streak ALIVE!!!

You can’t say minus buddy hield.

He was a LK kid.

Maybe WichitaSooner is Kevin Kruger? Or Mrs. Kruger?

Picked 9th in 2012, finished 8. Picked 8 in 2019, finished 7. Yep the coaches were way off on those picks

If you take all 8 years under Lon we have done a total of 1 spot better than the coaches predicted us. So yea i would go with them

2012 - 1 spot better than predicted - 9-8
2013 - 2 spots better - 7-5
2014 - 3 spots better - 5-2
2015 - Even - 3-3
2016 - 1 spot worse - 2-3
2017 - 3 spots worse - 6-9
2018 - 2 spots worse - 6-8
2019 - 1 spot better - 8-7

Lol. Yep, we never would have won all those games in 2013 without Buddy averaging 8 pts. on 24 percent shooting from distance. I love how all the people who want to discredit Kruger's success act as if Buddy was one of the best players in America from the day he walked in the door, and that Lon was just a lucky beneficiary of being carried by a star player.

LOL is right. You are something. Why don't you take 3 midol and call me in the morning?

Ah yes, another sexist remark on the board. Well done. Funniest part is that in your mind, I'm sure you are awfully proud of what you believe to be an incredibly witty remark.

Thanks.

No actually I regret making a comment now, because I see it stirred you up again. I don't have anything personal against you, but i tell you, you make reading this board difficult. I like this board and love OU basketball. But again your constant buzzing around injecting yourself into every thread that has a smidgen of negativity towards Kruger(or in my post's case none at all) is wearing me and i'm sure others out. If you love OU basketball, which i'm sure you do, I wish sometimes you'd just back away from the keyboard and STHU instead of your diarrhea posting. But, I don't think we'll get that lucky, so carry on!

Have a nice day.

No, the funniest part is that you can’t see or refuse to see yourself in what you believe to be “incredibly witty remarks.”

Your constant attacks on anyone who doesn’t agree with you are wearing thin on everyone, except for a handful of posters who, like you, may view their role here as Lon Kruger guardians. What you obviously can’t see is that you’re killing this board.

I like Coach Kruger and I’m glad he’s our coach. Does that mean I have to accept the results of the past three seasons? Absolutely not. Finishing in the bottom half of the Big 12 Conference three straight seasons is not my idea of taking full advantage of a Final Four run. Lon and his staff made some mistakes and I’m not happy about it!

I will also repeat what I have said a number of times. I’m excited about next season. I honestly believe Lon and his staff can take the program back to the top again. If I didn’t feel that way, I would be calling for his head right now, not pledging my support.

Hey ADA, where exactly did I attack Stik or anyone else? If I disagree with a post, I disagree with the post itself. I don't tell someone to take Midol or mock one of our best sources by claiming he just gets his info from Twitter. And I continue to find it amazing that people ignore all the times I have criticized the program, including Lon. I disagreed with him numerous times the last couple seasons on playing time decisions and have said multiple times that he and the staff are ultimately responsible for the lack of defense and effort the last half of the 2018 season. I guess that's not for some people, apparently I need to claim Lon doesn't work hard, no longer cares, and just hires his buddies. It seems anyone who doesn't do that is labeled a Kruger apologist.
