And second, he is one of the top 30, yes 30, coaches in the NCAA. Why do I say that? Because KU is like OU in football, it is MUCH easier to recruit at KU in bball than all but about 3 other schools. If Self was at OSU, he definitely would not be able to recruit at the level he does AND with the ease he does at KU. So, he would have OSU at a better place but no better than old Sutton did. That is why he won't leave KU. He gets in every single door with recruits he wants and when he brings them for a recruiting trip there are 16,200 butts in every seat.

There are 30 other coaches, at least, if you put them at KU that would be doing as well as he is. It is MUCH easier to be a "great" coach at a school like KU.

Self is easily one of the top 5 coaches out there, IMO.

As a d1 coach, he has won the conf regular season championship every season except for like 3 times.

He is a top recruiter. He brought elite talent to Tulsa, Illinois, too.

Self is one of the best coaches around. Ku has an elaborate network of cheating that helps them buy the best recruits, so that helps. Self has really helped accelerate the buying players, so they're a great match in that regard.

i don't like Kansas basketball, but i have no truck with Bill Self. i remember him as a really good player, as well. along with Jon Sunvold....a guy who would have been flat scary with today's 3 point line.

Easily the funniest and most delusional thing you have ever said on this board. Heard this at the time and heard it up until a year or so ago from my OState people. Never never never a real option. Might have used OState to get a better number on his contract but never a serious option. He graduated and coached at OState but his professional career began at KU and his dream job is the one he has. Period.
